Given that we would never have had the odious George W. Bush in the White House in the first place if it wasn't for your blow jobs, Bill, it seems obvious that you owe it to the people of this country, and especially to the parents whose kids died in the Iraq War that Gore would never have started, and to all the parents whose kids would be killed in the WarFest that would be a McCain/Palin -- sorry, Palin/McCain -- administration to do everything in your power to get Barack Obama elected.
But that's not what you're doing, Bill, and it's not going unnoticed. We see your rage, Bill, it's too huge to hide. We see that -- as Chris Rock so brilliantly pointed out -- it pains you to even speak Obama's name. We see you petulantly rooting against him even as you go through the motions of doing the barest minimum on his behalf to avoid being blamed if he loses.
You're not fooling anyone, Bill. You've gotten so caught up in yesterday that you've stopped thinking about tomorrow. You have the power to influence millions of voters and you're spitefully sitting on it. Surely you've noticed what's going on in the country. Surely you're aware of what's at stake on November 4th. This is not a game that you can afford to take your ball and go home with if you don't get to play the position you want. An Obama loss will most certainly be part of your legacy.
There's still time to fix it. How about this for an October surprise? Bill Clinton gets on the road and spends every day until the election sincerely and wholeheartedly communicating the urgency of electing Obama. You're the greatest politician of your generation, Bill. Surely you can fake enthusiasm for a month.
Oh, and stop talking about how much you like Senator McCain. Have you forgotten the vile joke he told a decade ago at your wife's and daughter's expense? Let me remind you: "Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly? She's the child of Janet Reno and Hillary Clinton." Are you saying, Bill, that you can forgive McCain for calling Chelsea "ugly" but you can't forgive Obama for defeating Hillary?
If Obama loses a close election -- one in which even one state where you could have made a difference goes for McCain because you sat home and pouted -- it will be on you. We will remember that you couldn't be bothered to rise above your petty resentments for something as trivial as saving your country from the enemies of everything you profess to believe in. We forgave you for Monica, Bill, but we won't forgive you for this.

Dear President Clinton:
You have been greatly admired as an amazing president and politician by myself and my husband. Your actions of late have been disloyal to all Democrats and the values supported by our party. Your inability to support Barack Obama has been an example of "if I can't be the captain, I won't play". The entire world is in a shambles because of eight years of the Bush administration and may not survive even four more of the Republican party. Your support is needed .... and may even save the entire world from destruction. So, President Clinton, I am depending on you to go out and fight for Barack Obama.
It doesn't have so much to do with Obama defeating Hillary as Bill is insanely jealous of Obama.
Bill use to be the young president who got the cheers and the crowds. Bill use to be in the spotlight everyday and had the love of millions. Bill use to be adored and powerful.
Now Bill is old.
Bill is about 20 years ago and the 90s. Bill has a tarnished legacy that forever will be linked to blow jobs and impeachment. Bill never achieved his potential. Bill threw his party under the bus many times for the republicans. And Bill could have been a great president but, due to personal weakness became a mediocre president.
Now he sees this accomplished, gifted, young and good looking Barack Obama who is athletic, devoted to his wife and daughters and has a brilliant mind.
Bill knows Obama is everything Bill hoped and dreamed of being. Even to the point where his most cherished dream of being the next JFK, instead the mantle was given by Ted and Caroline to Obama.
obama is not beset with personal weakness and won't be caught with an intern as obama is faithful to and deeply in love with Michelle.
Obama is also more organized, more thoughtful and more gifted. A more inspiring speaker who thrills millions and not just his country but, the whole world.
bill was good but, Obama is special.
I can't wait to see how disappointed you are after Obama loses. You people are dillusional!
Did ya think about that comment all day, nclibertarian? Seemed like it was so deep and well thought through that it must have taken quite some time for you to coax it out.
As a reminder, Vote by mail, and take the ballot to the Main Post office so it can't be thrown out.
If Obama loses it was a stolen election, period
THIS IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY TO YOU,
"~Palin
"ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health-care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy,..
Anybody who thinks this person knows enough to be a 72 year-old's heart beat away from the presidency is nuts!
Bill clinton was a conservative in sheep's clothing when he was in office, and he's finally gotten rid of his clothes.
If Bill thinks that by undermining Barack he is paving the way for Hillary in '08, he better think again. She won't get my vote.
Clinton has lost all of my respect. He no longer represents the Democratic Party but the Clinton machine.
Bill, please do not further place Hillary's political career in jeopardy. For now, or 2012, if that happens to be your mission. For whereever Hillary is in politics, she will always need certain blocks of voters to get her to her destination. Never forget that Bill, we won't.
Clinton is bitter, but just can't stay out of the cameras. He's alive when he gets attention. The party? Their ideals? plans? who cares???!!! He has an ax to grind, and if need be, thinks he'll subtly throw Obama under the bus. He's getting old, and not so sharp anymore, because his antics are too transparent now.Why do people insist on interviewing him? He's over.
Bill and Hillary won't say great things about Obama because they don't want the video to be played against them when Hillary challenges incumbent Obama for the Democratic nomination in 2012. And don't think for a second that a Democrat wouldn't challenge an incumbent. Ted Kennedy challenged Jimmy Carter in 1980. Funny thing is that if the Clintons had campaigned honorably, she would probably be the VP candidate right now.
I think if Hillary would have been the VP candidate, Obama would lose, people don't want
Bill Clinton hanging around the White House, in any capacity. And Senator Obama picked the
very best person for VP - Senator Biden.
You will recall those innocent remarks, Senator Biden used in describing Senator Obama,
at the start of Biden't bid for VP. Well Senator Obama in a debate, defended Senator Biden.
And he later chose Senator Biden as his VP. Only a secure man would do that, Obama chose
a man who would never be a "yes" guy, and that shows how secure, strong and great a leader
Obama is and will be...
Hillary would have been a disaster as VP - and also as President.
Someone tell the Clinton's they had their time in the White House - MOVE ON - IT"S OVER
We don't want PART II - LEAVE THE BUILDING - ALREADY!
After seeing President Clinton's performance on Meet the Press today, I am in complete agreement with you. Bill Clinton is not helping HRC when he continues to be lukewarm about Obama. In fact, if Obama does not win, one of the reasons will have to do with the Clinton's and that reason will make it rather hard for me to vote for HRC in 2012. Surely, Bill Clinton cares more about America and its people and what will happen to us if we have to put up with four more years. Or, is he just like McCain and cares more about himself?
I am flabbergasted about Bill Clinton's behavior. At the same time, though, where is Al Gore in all of this? Is he doing anything for Obama?
Gore is totally out of politics. He does not want anything to do it. For his party he will show up to certain things like the night of the convention but, he has purposely made clear he is not in politics at all anymore.
Bill stumped for his wife and still loves the game of politics and is a political animal. He is only out of the game because there is no where for him to go.
But, Gore, chose to leave it behind.
Nice post!
Gore said it all when he appeared at the Democratic Convention. He has such an important mission to pursue with the crucial issues concerning global warming and the environment, for which bipartisan support is needed, that it's fair enough that he should spend his efforts there.
However, I'll bet if a reporter caught up with Gore and asked about his support for Obama, his response would be absolutely clear and emphatically positive, none of the dithering and barely positive stuff coming from Bill Clinton.
First of all, I wonder why you're brining up this old article. It's from over a week ago. Old news. Second, Bill has been cool towards Obama. I think he really feels the pain of being called a racist, especially since Bill did so much for the black community in the past. It's hard to put that aside. If Bill were to go all out for Obama now, everyone would know his heart isn't in it.
"He did so much for the black community??????" Sorry, that is soooooo condescending. Lyndon Johnson did more than Bill ever thought about. Bill Clinton is a grown man, not a pouty child. You're telling us he can't put aside a political loss. Baloney! He has always been a drama queen. Still is. If his heart is not in it, then he should shut the blank up. Don't go to the Sunday political talk shows and damn Obama with faint praise while praising John McCain to the hilt. I was a Clintonite until this year...... willing to forgive all the drama of his administration because of all the good he did..... but I'm done. I have moved on. The Clintons are yesterdays news. We have a future to focus on and Bill ain't gonna be part of it sorry to say.
Bill only cares about Bill.... He cares for Hillary because she can help Bill...... Get back in the White House. He'd be tickled pink if McCain won this election. No doubt about it....
Paul, Lets agree that WJC is at best a lukewarm supporter of Obama. At least he's making appearances for Obama. Let's also check on JCarter, WMondale, AGore, and JKerry, and of course, MDukakis. Don't see much news about them supporting Obama. Why such unbalanced focus on Clinton - is he Obama's best friend? Just wondering.
Captainskippy, I agree about the others. Their silence is very curious except to say they all are "loosers" who may be staying out because they might do more harm than good to the campaign.
They are mostly lightening rods for the center right Obama needs to win. But Bill is the Democrat President that is supposed to be loved by millions. He should be a positive. He committed publicly to doing "whatever it takes." That does not mean praising John McCain as a great leader while barely being able to speak Obama's name. You have to admit there is something wrong with that picture. Everyone I know thinks Bill is none too subtly trying to make sure Obama looses. Whatever the reason, for certain, Bill SEEKS these political forums like the Sunday shows and INTENTIONALLY disses Obama. He could just do his charitable work and keep his political mouth shut if he is all that angry. For me Bill Clinton has become a sad bitter man. I am done with him. Primary Colours has just turned from fiction to autobiography.
Clinton, the self-proclaimed leader of the Democratic party should be passing the torch with a little more grace than THIS! Come on! He's acting more like Joe Lieberman than anything else, with his brown nose half way up McCain's ass, and visible scorn for the Democratic nominee. It's pathetic! Hillary lost. Get over it!
Carter was a one termer who is very old. Gore has chosen to leave politics behind. Kerry is out and about as a surrogate for Obama and visible. Mondale is old. No one wants Dukakis stumping for them.
Clinton is a two term, recent president and the recent head of the party until it became Obama's in early June.
And Clinton is active and visible and still does politics.
That is the difference.
Good point. It seems some people just can't turn off the primary.
No one wants to be reminded of Dukakis - he is the kiss of death, for any campaign.. .
Bill is doing good work. Obama, meanwhile, has to cover his own buttocks.
While it's fun and popular to do that ad hominem thing, especially about the only relevant and helpful of our Presidents since Kennedy, I just don't see it myself. Paul, instead of the tiresome slam on Bill, why aren't you ringing the bell about the cretin preachers who have announced intentions to tell their flocks for whom to vote? Those people make up their own "laws" and identify them as "the laws of god," and then violate the laws of the land since they are "the laws of man," as if there were really any other. Or why not let everyone know how Chalmers Johnson predicted nearly all of these late major events, in his "blowback trilogy," or how we do need impeachment and conviction most certainly if we are to regain anything like a legitimate standing for ourselves and in the world. Lay off "easy target" Bill, and get to work.
How quickly people forget who Bill really is (or ignored it in the first place).
NAFTA, and all the dislocation, poverty and joblessness that's come with it.
Kicking six million people off welfare, including thousands of single mothers, in three years - most without childcare, rent subsidies, or continued Medicaid coverage. In some states, 50% of those pushed off welfare couldn't find jobs; very many of those jobs paid only $6 an hour, or less than $15,000/year. What happened to so many of those people? They're in the corporate prison system.
Slashing Medicare by $115 billion and Medicaid by $25 million.
Remember Ricky Ray Rector?
Remember that it was Clinton who pushed the Democratic Party toward corporate servitude? He said that workers would vote for Dems anyway. And let's get rid of those unions as well.
That's Bill Clinton.
