A Note to Bill Clinton

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Given that we would never have had the odious George W. Bush in the White House in the first place if it wasn't for your blow jobs, Bill, it seems obvious that you owe it to the people of this country, and especially to the parents whose kids died in the Iraq War that Gore would never have started, and to all the parents whose kids would be killed in the WarFest that would be a McCain/Palin -- sorry, Palin/McCain -- administration to do everything in your power to get Barack Obama elected.

But that's not what you're doing, Bill, and it's not going unnoticed. We see your rage, Bill, it's too huge to hide. We see that -- as Chris Rock so brilliantly pointed out -- it pains you to even speak Obama's name. We see you petulantly rooting against him even as you go through the motions of doing the barest minimum on his behalf to avoid being blamed if he loses.

You're not fooling anyone, Bill. You've gotten so caught up in yesterday that you've stopped thinking about tomorrow. You have the power to influence millions of voters and you're spitefully sitting on it. Surely you've noticed what's going on in the country. Surely you're aware of what's at stake on November 4th. This is not a game that you can afford to take your ball and go home with if you don't get to play the position you want. An Obama loss will most certainly be part of your legacy.

There's still time to fix it. How about this for an October surprise? Bill Clinton gets on the road and spends every day until the election sincerely and wholeheartedly communicating the urgency of electing Obama. You're the greatest politician of your generation, Bill. Surely you can fake enthusiasm for a month.

Oh, and stop talking about how much you like Senator McCain. Have you forgotten the vile joke he told a decade ago at your wife's and daughter's expense? Let me remind you: "Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly? She's the child of Janet Reno and Hillary Clinton." Are you saying, Bill, that you can forgive McCain for calling Chelsea "ugly" but you can't forgive Obama for defeating Hillary?

If Obama loses a close election -- one in which even one state where you could have made a difference goes for McCain because you sat home and pouted -- it will be on you. We will remember that you couldn't be bothered to rise above your petty resentments for something as trivial as saving your country from the enemies of everything you profess to believe in. We forgave you for Monica, Bill, but we won't forgive you for this.

Given that we would never have had the odious George W. Bush in the White House in the first place if it wasn't for your blow jobs, Bill, it seems obvious that you owe it to the people of this country...

You are well received, Mr. Slansky!!!

Thank you for pointing out what is SO obvious!!! And its so true, too, what you said about it being Bill's perversions that got us GWB. OF THAT I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT!!!!!!

But, he wont do it. He'll never do it b/c we lavish him with so much praise for being so brilliant that in his mind, we are completely mistaken.

He wont do it b/c once Barack is elected president, it is over for the Clintons. They're finished. Barack is an even better politician than Bill Clinton and Bill knows it......remember, he thinks Barack is the biggest fairy tale he has ever heard....

You do know that Obama is running against the Republicans in this presidential election right? You should have more confidence in Obama's abilities and not feel the need to tear someone down to raise him up.

j2d2: I sure hope you are right about that. I would feel so much better voting Republican for the first time in my life. I just can't bring myself to vote for a candidate that was manufactured by David Axelrod and the Chicago Political Machine. I am not willing to be a party to the introduction of William Ayres, Reverend Wright, and their philosophies into the Oval Office. I am shocked that the DNC under the "leadership?" of Howard Dean, Donna Brazile, Jesse Jackson, Jr., James Wyburn, and Ted Kennedy are not protecting us from this attempt to turn our children against us in order to elect an African-American to the office of President. Wake up to what is happening right under our very noses. William Ayres said, “Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that’s where it’s really at.” Is that the motto of the New Democrats/Obama Democrats? This article is from CBS NEWS.

Slansky missed the essential truth about Gore's loss. Bill Clinton would have won a third term. Al Gore distanced himself from Bill, avoided taking credit for any work they did together and Ralph Nader siphoned off the necessary votes to make it a clear victory. The close race was won by Bush because of a Supreme Court ruling. If popular votes had carried the election Gore would have won. If Ralph Nader had been true to his own beliefs and principles and dropped out of the race when he saw how close it was, Al Gore would have won.

Monica Lewinsky did not hurt Bill Clinton's political career. It was certainly embarrassing though and continues to be so.

Clinton was asked to clarify the current financial fiasco on the Letterman show. He is also, trying to keep up with his incredibly important work with CGI. He spoke eloquently at the convention and convincingly threw his support behind Obama.

He knows that you will not win over McCain supporters or independents by disparaging their party and calling them stupid. He is speaking to their hearts, asking them to consider what is best for this country.

Because you have a preconceived idea of what he should be saying you've tuned him out . All you want to hear is "I support Obama." He is not speaking to you.

He & Hillary are stumping for Obama. Hillary has done more for Obama than any other losing candidate in our history.

I agree with everything you say Paul, but Obama doesn't need Bill campaigning for him. He would only talk about the campaign his wife ran. Let Bill work with his charity. Best for everyone involved. period.
Bill can't admit he played the race card. Yet everyone knows he did including Bill.

Bill's many TV appearances this week, in which the best he could do was say, "I think Obama will win the election," always adding how much he likes Mickey C -- and then providing a platform for the senator at his Global Initiative event (during the time that the candidate's campaign was allegedly suspended) -- made me even sicker than I have been since the day Palin was announced. So, thanks but no thanks, Bill. I'd like to see you on that bridge to nowhere, 'cause with friends like you...well, ya know where I'm goin' with that. Why don't ya go take a seat next to that Carly woman and get temporarily disappeared for a while. And take Hillary, who's also been popping up all over the place, as though she's still in contention for the presidency, with you. I've voted each time for each of you and was anticipating giving Chelsea a chance some day. But now I'm done with all you Clintons.

I saw Clinton on The Daily Show the other night and he was practically wearing an Obama T-shirt and almost demanded that everyone vote for Obama.

I know you wrote this several days ago, but every time I see this on Huffington Post, I am once again grateful to you for pointing this out.

The same point has crossed my mind many times over the last few years - we very likely would not have been stuck with George W. Bush, a Republican Congress, and a war in Iraq if Clinton had not decided that it was acceptable for the leader of our country to be unfaithful - and not just to his wife.

We have been stuck with ten years of "family values" campaigning, resulting in the deaths of thousands of our young men and women in an arbitrary war, the appointment of conservative Supreme Court Judges, and redistricting of entire states by Republicans who were voted into office based on the loose morality of Democrats - as evidenced by Bill Clinton.

The repercussions of his act of infidelity will be felt for a long time to come.

Here is it, and it is quite simple. It doesnt matter if you loved the Clintons, or if you love Obama. Here is what matters. One question?

ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE WAY BUSH HAS RAN THIS COUNTRY THE PAST 8 YEARS?

If you are happy with it, if you approve of Bush, then hey McCain is your man. He voted with Bush 90-95% of the time.

If dont like where Bush has taken us then Obama is your man. Plain and simple. Doesnt matter your gender, your race, your party, your age. What matters is if you wish for nothing to change then vote for McCain. If you do, they vote Obama. Not that hard. If you cant look past that than you clearly are putting your own interests and your countries interests last. You choose to hold onto something that will only hurt you in the end.

Do the Clintons realize that if the Republican ticket wins, Sarah Palin becomes not just the most important woman in the USA, but the pre-eminent one, as well. Technically, one might argue that as Speaker, Nancy Polosi is more important than Hillary Clinton but Hillary has been the pre-eminent woman in the country. If the Clintons don't stop Palin from becoming vice-president, Clinton becomes yesterday's star, stale and old-hat. Her chances for 2012 will be dead. If, heaven forfend, Palin becomes president, the fact that Clinton is permanently displaced will be the least of Hillary's and our problems.

Terrific article. It really set forth very eloquently how many people are feeling about Bill's attitude this week (it seems to have gotten particularly bad this week). What is with this lack of enthusiasm for his own party, especially in light of the gravity of the past week's events? Wake up, Bill; there's not much time left to redeem yourself in the eyes of your party!

How in the world can Bill even look at McCain after what he said about his own daughter? Bill is only loyal to Bill. I wouldn't be shocked if Bill switches partys.

Bill Clinton needs to shut up.
I'm not of the "Bill doesn't show enough Obama" love persuasion. I don't care how much love he shows Obama. Frankly, I don't care about Bill Clinton in this election at all. But Bill Clinton cares about Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton loves to hear Bill Clinton talk. Man, what an ego. To go on a sweeping media tour, Daily Show one night, Larry King the next, Letterman in between--purposefully making himself visible to the masses--and to stupidly spout off about WWHD (what would hillary have done??), and about how McCain is not thinking of politics in suspending his campaign? It's flat out unnecessary and not helping anyone (except maybe a Hillary 2012 campaign?).

I was not too happy with the Monica Lewinsky BS.
I had pretty much given up any hope of fairness from the Clinton administration after he threw us gay folk under the bus with Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and Defense of Marriage Act.
I was outed in the service and tossed during the
RonnieRaygun era, it was a slim hope that I could
at least acknowledge my service , I did not count on my service related benefits.
It would be nice to be a gay American AND be treated fairly instead of thrown to the Rep party as bait for the hatemongering fools.

I don't care what anyone says. Bill Clinton was the best President we ever had. With him at the helm, we had cash in our pockets, the economy was great and we had friends who respected us all over the globe. Hillary, as First Lady, tried her darndest to get a universal health care package passed, only to be thwarted by Republicans at every turn. I don't care how many "perks" he received from Monica et al.
I would be thrilled to have him back in the White House. Wake up America - the repressive Republican regime is bordering on fascism. I will vote for Obama, but would much rather vote for a Clinton!

Obama supporters are so tiresome and insecure on Clintons. First they are "old" and "irrelevant" and represent "the past". Now after enduring derision and disrespect from short sighted members of their own party they are supposed to leap like lions to campaigning for Obama! You can't have it both ways baby! I just do not understand why they expect this. The Clinton's have been disrespected and turned on like shark chum because the new guy wanted their power and position. There is nothing in it for them. Obama has made it clear that he will not include them in any way, he cannot aknowledge their importance i.e. their experience and huge contribution, because that would underscore his lack of same. The fact is that more democrats voted for Hillary and wanted them back in power is because Clinton did a great job. No mystery there. Why do the Clinton's have to rise above the primary campaign when Obama could not? If Obama wanted the Clinton's on board he should have been secure and smart enough to get Hillary as running mate. Simple as that.
P.S. Why should'nt B.C. have ambivelant feelings about Obama who's campaign seriously dissed his wife? Obama lashed out over criticism of his wife, and that struck everyone as innappropriate because she was out there campaigning for him.

Ross 500 you do not know what you are talking about. Hillary Clinton did not win the Primaries, full stop!!
Secondly, Barack Obama has been most respectful, and over extending himself to both Clintons. This election is not about Bill Clinton, it is about the American people.
Hillary Clinton lost because she ran a terrible campaign and she was presumptious enough to believe that it would be over by Super Tuesday in February. Her campaign was broke from the first caucus in Iowa. The other most interesting point is that Barack's numbers are grossly understated, since there is no way to tell his real total from all the caucuses that he trounced Hillary in.
What is Bill's problem? African Americans will not forget. We supported him thru the Monica Lewinsky scandal when most other Americans, said that he should be crucified!!
Bill is busy campaigning for John McCain and he and his wife will pay for it politically. You just wait!!

Canadian? You make me laugh. Hillary Clinton had slightly more votes tallied than Obama. It's called the popular vote. You need to brush up on it there, my Canadaian friend. Also the Democratic primaries were open to "independents" who largely voted Obama. Many of these were Republicans voting against Clinton. Clintons Super Tuesday campaign strategy was what is called "traditional" as is Obama's presedential electorate strategy despite talk of "rewriting" the electoral map. Those "caucuses" you referred to were very undemocratic and heavily favored people who had lots of time on their hands to hang out there all night. The Democrat base of working class people were marginalized. Sadly I think Obama's popularity peaked in May and he has reached his max on attracting new votes, because of the nature of his "winning" strategy and thin qualifications for candidacy. If he had picked Hillary as a running mate, he would have wiped the board and been the first African American President. He was willing to risk that on the basis of insecurity and ego. The Clinton's aren't going any where. Deal with it.

Ross500: I totally agree with you. Bill and Hillary have gone beyond what anyone else in their place would have done. Hillary was robbed and everyone expects her to kiss butt. I would be ecstatic if we were lucky enough to have a Clinton in the White House!
