Barbershopera was created in 2007 by writers, performers and reformed Barbershop singers Rob Castell and Tom Sadler. Enlisting the creative talents of director Sarah Tipple the company developed its first full-length show - Barbershopera: Toni and the Guys, which went to the Edinburgh Festival in 2008 and received rave reviews, including a five star write-up in The Scotsman. Since then the group, including core members Lara Stubbs and Pete Sorel-Cameron - have taken two more full-length shows to the festival, put three separate shows on in London's West End, toured the length and breadth of the UK (as well as a slightly bizarre but wonderful week in South Korea), written and recorded an afternoon play for BBC Radio 4 and made an appearance on BBC2's Newsnight. This year the company are bringing their fourth full-length a capella comedy musical to the Edinburgh Fringe: The Three Musketeers, and will be recording another BBC Radio 4 afternoon play which will air in the winter.

Can I start by being openly shameless? I can? Why, thank you.

A big motivation for my involvement in Barbershopera is to be Famous. Not hounded in the street, having my (as yet unconceived) offspring pixelated in photos, people getting my face tattooed on them Famous. I'd...
