Peter Hurley, a food activist with Consumers Union and working with the Make Our Food Safe Coalition, became a leading advocate for food safety last year after his son, Jacob, was poisoned by salmonella in his favorite snack -- Austin peanut butter crackers. He has testified before Congress and lobbied the Senate and House of Representatives in both Oregon and D.C.
