My Day With FLOTUS

I was given the privilege of going to the White House for the Let's Move! event last Tuesday morning (March 15, 2016). It was a phenomenal day. I got to hang out with some really amazing moms (and dads)...truly blessed. Let's Move! is a comprehensive initiative, launched by the First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS), dedicated to solving the challenge of childhood obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams.

With about 150 bloggers and social media mavens, I learned more about the program started by Michelle Obama, watched the White House Executive Chef, Cris Comerfod demonstrate a quick and nutritious Must Have Tuscan Kale Salad To Go using kale from the White House Kitchen Garden, and listened to a panel of highly intelligent women from the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Agriculture, the President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition, and the Partnership for Healthier America.

One of my favorite part of the day was learning about FNV. The Partnership for a Healthier America put together a brand campaign for fruits and veggies. Sell Out For FNV. Check out their cute video here.

Some cool key facts:

1.6 million kids attend healthier daycare centers
2 million kids now have a Let's Move! Salad Bar in Schools
Over 10 million kids attend Let's Move! Active Schools where they strive to get 60 minutes of physical activity each day
Over 30 million kids have access to healthier school meals
Nearly 80 million people live in a Let's Move! City, Town, or County
200 corporate partners have made commitments for a healthier America

Of course the highlight of my day...FLOTUS. There are just no words to describe her. She is the epitome of Elegance, Class and Grace...FLAWLESS!! All I can say is she Slays!! First Lady Michelle Obama, thank you for your desire to end Obesity in our children. Thank you for your hard work in getting healthier foods in schools. Thank you, FLOTUS. Please know how much your efforts are appreciated. Six years after launching Let's Move!, we've seen incredible progress, but there is still much more work that needs to be done.

When you leave the White House, you really will be missed!
