Just Got Time to Say Your Prayers — While You're Waiting for the Hammer to Fall

Fans of Queen and the movie "Highlander" will recognize the above reference but so, too, will Pat Robertson, who today offered Tom DeLay a warm post-resignation welcome on his program and heard all about DeLay's fasting, prayers and one-on-one with the Lord in coming to the decision to resign (funny, though, nary a word was said about repentance). Much is being said in the blogosphere about today's resignation: Salon's Farhad Manjoo remembers the DeLay of one year ago, darkly threatening activist judges who dared legislate against Terri Schiavo from the bench; Wonkette mistily recalls DeLay's legacy of "multiple admonishments from the House ethics committee," "money laundering" and "comparing yourself to Jesus"; RedState mistily recalls DeLay's legacy of pushing his agenda with "with parliamentary maneuvering, with political brinksmanship, and with redistricting" (except they really are misty). Arianna, meanwhile, can't believe his nerve, noting that it takes "a special kind of man to present himself as holier than thou even as he slips deeper into the slime"

Me, I just like rocking out to a good Queen song. Here are a few more DeLay-inspired songs (caveat: audio links!), plus a few that we can (hopefully) look forward to tapping our toes along to in the future:

(NB: Audio links from Amazon.com, BarnesAndNoble.com and HMV.co.uk. Honorable mention to "Death On Two Legs" for this line: "And now you can kiss my ass goodbye!")
