Rashid Shabazz is a Senior Fellow with Fenton Communications. He is a former 2006-07 New York University OSI Social Justice Fellow and worked with local community groups in New York City on a public awareness campaign for progressive education reform. He holds a B.A. in English from George Mason University, an M.A. in African studies from Yale University and an M.S. in magazine writing from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He is currently helping organize the June 6, 2008 Baltimore Break the Chains Conference (BTC). BTC is committed to helping build a national movement within communities of color to replace current punitive drug policies with policies that treat drug use and addiction as public health issues and promote compassion, racial justice and human rights.
