The World of Energy in 2040. Amory Lovins in the White House?

Posted: Updated:

Well, that's not going to happen. In an article appearing in the recent issue of Pipeline and Gas Journal I responded to this question from its editor, "What will the world of energy be like in the year 2040?" A somewhat daunting question, but I gave it my best, trying to answer it from the vantage point of today's world of energy and what it portents for the future.

One of the predictions I would have liked to have made was that the Rocky Mountain Institute's Amory Lovins would be president of the United States, but that's not going to happen. Lovins will be over 80 by then. Still, it isn't unthinkable that someone with his values, his vision, his concern about the climatic calamity facing future generations will be elected to lead our nation. In fact, it is not only highly desirable, it will become essential.

But I digress. For the predictions I did make -- a massive shift to flex fuels and much more -- please go here [pdf].
