Israel - Gaza Protest Photos

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

After 18 days of bloodshed, more than 1,000 people have died as a result of the war between Israel and Gaza. Talk of a 10-day ceasefire is in the works, but for now the violence continues. HuffPost World photographers have documented how the global community is responding to this political and humanitarian crisis.

See last week's slideshow of protests here.

After reading a few comments here and other places.. I find it strange and ironic that some people in the US are Soooooo willing to tar the average citizen of Gaza, be they Muslim or Jew, with the same sticky brush as the respective leaders of the Israeli Govt.and Hamas have been and should be.. Especially as We The People have found ourselves unwillingly and unwittingly bound to policies that have killed Hundreds of Thousands of innocent citizens of various and assorted Middle Eastern regions. This really is a case of pointing a finger and having 3 more pointed back at you.. Our Representational Democracy unleashed Bush upon the World.. and I think We all know how that turned out.. Are We culpable? or are we Victims? I suppose like most Answers to most Questions, it all depends on Who you ask...

If it wasn't so sad it would be Hilarious that some posters actually believe that the Israeli Govt. and Hamas value the opinions of the poor folk held hostage to their Grand Schemes anymore than our own Govt. gives a fat rat's a$$ about what We think..

.. We the People need to start speaking for other People in other Countries and not evaluating them on the Actions of their Govts. and hope that the World will extend that courtesy to We The People and not hold GeeDubya against US.

Funny how these demonstrations are publicized, but anti-war and anti-Bush demonstrations in the US are not publicized there.

You must be kidding, right? Check the U.S press and see whose "side" in the genocidal conflict is most reported. U.S Jews such as myself, must speak up in defense of our own humanity. To the Israelis I say 'Not in my Name".

I have checked the press, and it seems pretty firmly on the Gazans side. If you don't believe me, just go through Huffington Post here and count the number of articles supporting Israel and those supporting Gaza. It's about 3 to 1 in favor of the Gazans. In the blogosphere in general it's about 10 to 1. If you don't believe me, then just go look for yourself.

When we think of what we never dreamed we would live to see something will happen on the 20th of Jan and this is happening here. Please America PLEASE please here these people. I am an American RN who lived and worked in the West Bank and Gaza. It is hell, it is unbearable and you only have to open your eyes to know the truth. Posted earlier on Huff Po. Over 1000 people, out of a population of 1.5 million, have been killed in Gaza. That is equivalent to 200,000 Americans being killed--in two weeks.

Finally the Jewish community begins to awaken!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

(I kinda prefer the idea of speaking out against injustice AS HUMANS rather than "as Jews" or "as Lithuanians" or "as short people". But I'll take whatever I can get!)

Everyone has a different definition of justice...

You only read half of the sign. It also calls for the end of "Hamas terror". No calls for the real terror, that of Israel against the innocent civilians in the thousands as compared with 10-12 Israelis killed by Hamas in two years. Some call for "peace" that is!
"Peace on my terms"!
