Time for a Money Bomb

What's Your Reaction?

?>

The Republican health care plan is simple: Don't get sick. The Republicans also have a backup plan. If you do get sick, die quickly.

After I said those words, the right wing had its predictable hissy fit, and I knew from that point forward, they would be watching. I immediately became the Republican's #1 target to defeat next year. D.C. election forecasters, like Charlie Cook, downgraded my re-election chances, which is a signal to corporate interests to go after me. And Bill O'Reilly began obsessing over me, even going as far as sending Fox News stalker specialist, Griff Jenkins, to wait outside my office all evening last Wednesday.

I scare them. More accurately, you scare them. Progressives standing up for what we believe and not backing down when our beliefs get challenged.

That's why my campaign launched a Money Bomb today. I wanted to show the right wing that when someone speaks out for progressive values, he or she will get the support to win.

Today, we can show the "experts" that a progressive can raise money without having to cater to lobbyists and the DC pay-to-play culture.

I want a campaign by the people and for the people. Today's money bomb will show whether or not it's possible.

Please join our money bomb by contributing today.

Track the progress with our money bomb ticker at: www.CongressmanWithGuts.com

This guy is for real. I just sent a donation and if you care about an alternitive to corporate Republicans and, unfortunately, corporate Democrats, you should too.

(A corporate Democrat is not necessarily worse than a Republican but they are both in the same ballpark).

Well done, Rep Grayson. We need more Progressives like you!

Good for Rep. Grayson; his orginal goal was $400,000 when I contributed last night. He has exceeded his increased goal of $500,000. The tea baggers don't even know what force they are awakening in the progressive ranks.

Wow! I'm going to find a way to donate.

Alan Grayson is like the "Prodigal Son", the champion of the NetRoots. We demanded a tough guy to represent our incredible blog rage. Alan Grayson is the embodiment of our indefatigable blog-rage for victory.

Except for Dennis Kucinich, we haven't had another guy willing to give no quarter to the opposition. None requested, none granted. The value added is that Alan Grayson is imposing too, and not a vegan.

Donate all you want to this guy but plan on him being a ONE term Rep. He has no chance of winning again in the Orlando district after the way he has acted and the st*pid things he has said.

Scared? I think so, get used to it. Progressives are not going away or remaining quite, not this time.

It's evident that belief is important. There is a long standing misconception out there that Insurance is like holding a special jar of jelly beans, and these beans are unique and irreplaceable, their rarity and limited supply makes them unaffordable to most Americans, and when someone takes one out there is never another one to replace it, and so the price of all the jelly beans goes up.

It is evident that Belief is required to keep this delusion going.

See, I'm here to tell you that medical care is NOT like a jar of irreplaceable jelly beans. When one person avails themselves of it, the quantity of medical services is not reduced. There is exactly zero transfer of the implications surrounding one persons access to medical services to another. In other words, your neighbor's health, his insurance status, or his ability to pay for the possible future need of medical services has exactly zero effect on your access to medical services.

Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero.

Only when you divorce the subject from reality, by talking in terms of "Belief's," can you sustain the delusion that "Insurance" equals "medical services."

You are being lied to. there is no medical crisis in America. Please return to reality and have a good night.

SO DO I. He is saying that this "healthcare crisis" is not a crisis, but that the insurance companies are trying to make it so.

With all that pointless incoherent drivel, the bottom line is, you are wrong.

There are finite resources available.

We have massive waits in emergency rooms because.... Oh, just because.

"We have massive waits in emergency rooms because" those are the only places that corporate insurance isn't allowed to arbitrarily refuse services already paid for ("recission"), or deny coverage due to "pre-exising conditions" which conveniently for them is vague enough that anything can be wedged into that category when treatment is actually required, after they have accepted payment for months or years. Then they provide nothing. Their business model is called a protection racket and it's a felony in civilized countries.

Keep speaking for those of us with no voice Mr. Grayson. Don't back down and don't apologize for ruffling the feathers of the party of no.

Thank you, Rep. Grayson, for all the good work you are doing! You're my hero, too!

Man how did you fly under the radar for so long...I hope the other democrats our watching and taking notes on how to be a (real) Congressman.

Ran out of room for a final point. The public option should be up and running within 12 months. Medicare from the time of bill signing to enactment, was I believe 11 months with a lot less technology than we have now.
06:19 PM on 11/02/2009
Rep Grayson, I voted for you last year and I've heard and agreed with most everything you'vesaid, however, you said on Ed Shultz' show last week that the current bill going to the floor was the best we can do right now.

Unfortunately that is a crock. It would only allow extremely sick, and poor people into the public option, it also allows an evergreening clause by rep Eschoo (which needs to be replaced with rep Waxman's ammendment, it also mandates that people buy private insurance or pay a fine. Respectfully, this is NOT the best we can do. The public option needs to be opened to anyone and everyone. If an employee doesn't like what they have at work, they should be able to buy into the public option, If a small business has 3 employees and is not making enough to purchase insurance for them, those employees should be able to buy in. The more the pool of purchasers into the p/o, the more beneficial and cost cutting it will be.

The present bill is woefully inadequate, and before I donate a dollar to you, or support you any more in any way, I want to see a bill that addresses the above issues, and I want a bill being voted for with a SUPER STRONG public option that pays medicare + 5%, that allows every American to choose it, that allows negotiated drug prices, or allows the p/o to import them from Canada.

I second this. This current bill is atrocious and I am really hoping that if it is not changed the Progressive Dems get the moxie to sink it, as they promised if it did not contain THE REAL PUBLIC OPTION, as DP just mentioned.

This bill is the gift to the insurance companies and it will continue to kill people and ruin them financially. I heard about the "insurance exchange" last night on Marketplace. What a joke!
