Congressman Charlie Melancon is running against David Vitter (R-LA) because he wants to bring a more bipartisan, disciplined, and honest approach to the US Senate. A successful small businessman, public servant, community leader, and family man, Charlie is committed to fighting for those that need his help the most.

Before being elected to Congress in 2004, Charlie served as a State Representative in the Louisiana Legislature, and was the President and General Manager of the American Sugar Cane League. Charlie still lives in his hometown of Napoleonville, Louisiana, with his wife of 37 years, Peachy. Charlie and Peachy have two children, Charles Joseph (Seph) and Claire, and one grandson, Jackson. He holds a degree in Agri-Business from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
