Rep. Earl Blumenauer

Today, my campaign is launching an ad telling voters what we're proud of in this Democratic Congress.

I'm proud that we passed a healthcare bill to end the abuses of insurance companies.

I'm proud that we are finally bringing our troops home from the misguided war in Iraq.

And I'm proud that we reformed Wall Street regulation to put a stop to the abuse by greedy banks.

Are these reforms perfect? Of course not, but they are absolutely better than where we were when Democrats took office. This November, Democrats must disappoint the loud voices that want to move our country backwards by GETTING OUT AND VOTING.

I'm Earl Blumenauer, and I'm proud to be a Democrat. You should be, too.

Bravo for this article. Surely, there has been slow progress but short-term memory seems to be taking control of America. America was on the verge of bankruptcy BEFORE inauguration. The CURRENT job market is the result of the financial fallout BEFORE inauguration. In LESS THAN 2 YEARS we were saved from bankruptcy. In LESS THAN 2 YEARS, laws passed which allowed people with pre-existing medical conditions access to insurance. In that same time frame, laws were passed to protect struggling families in debt from predatory corporate greed. Laws were passed to provide equal pay for equal work to women. We received our first Hispanic on Supreme Court. My Social Security benefits was not privatized. Why anyone on Social Security wants to elect policy makers who wants to privatized Social Security with greedy insurance companies leaves me speechless. Most importantly, in less than 2 years, we have watched congressmen come to work everyday just to say "no" on issues which I am sure their constituents were struggling with. No matter which party we support, shouldn't we voters be voting on accomplishments of congress while in office in the time frame they were in office? Mathematically, I am impressed with what has been done in LESS THAN TWO YEARS compared to accomplishments in EIGHT YEARS. By the way, our children are saddled with a huge debt - a needless Iraq war. REMEMBER?

If there is any justice you will lose your seat in congress. Obamacare will destroy medical care and significantly raise taxes. 45% of all doctors have said they will retire early once it becomes effective. You should have read the bill before you voted for it. Among all the other crazy things in the bill it requires every person in the country to issue a 1099 to any place of business they spent more than $600 in a year. Do you really think your constituents will enjoy tracking and issuing 1099s to their local grocery store or clothing store?
You WILL answer to the voters, and they are NOT HAPPY.
