Federal Government has Preeminent Authority to Regulate Immigration Matters

What's Your Reaction:

The Rainbow PUSH Coalition supports the decision of the U.S. Department of Justice and Attorney General Eric Holder to file a lawsuit against the State of Arizona for its punitive, negative and unconstitutional immigration law.

This Arizona 'law' attacks the very character of America and denies equal protection, undermining our lives, our liberty, and our pursuit of happiness.

Immigration is an issue that is uniquely reserved for federal law. Comprehensive immigration reform is needed now more than ever before. The federal government must quickly move to enact legislation and stem the trend of individual states acting to establish misguided immigration policies--actions they are not legally empowered to take.

President Obama's challenge is to determine a pathway to citizenship. Comprehensive immigration reform is a test of our character; a test that measures the best in us,

AZ law mirrors the Federal law.

What is the problem?

Maybe the PUSH coalition should start footing the bill for all of the social services illegals and anchor babies use. If they support illegals, they should support illegals.

The problem is where is states rights in this! This law was voted and passed by majority, what gives the federal government the right to over rule the American people in Arizona? What about other laws that are Federally illegal but states have voted against the Fed, such as medical marijuana is legal in 14 states but illegal according to the feds? How will these states feel if the Fed comes in and repeals this law? This was passed for the good of ill people, the same can be said about Arizonas law, this law was implimented for the safety of all who live in this area!

Tell this to the republicans in congress it is Congress' job to write the bills so do it already and get it to the presidents desk. Plus you had more than 8 years to address this now that the black man is in office you complain and blame him. If this was that important to you then it would have been done before you took that 4th of July vacation but instead you take the vacation then complain about the immigration issue which is your job to address since the president does not write the laws he can only aproove them or veto them. Or is this just another strawman for us to tear down like abortion to get the votes.

Republicans do your job and govern, stop looking out for the next election.

We have had seven amnesties so far and all they do is set off the next wave of illegals. No more amnesties. Just enforce the laws we have on the books. Crack down on employers and most of the illegals will go home on their own. P.S. I'm a Democrat, I'm for reducing immigration and I'm not alone.

Its crystal clear that most of the people complaining about this law are opposed to enforcement of any kind.

What about all the so called sanctuary cities like San Francisco? They attempted to undermine Federal Immigration Law by NOT enforcing it. Oh you agree with that because you are against enforcement of any kind, just like Obama and Reid and Pelosi. This immigration tidal wave will destroy our country by forcing our population to half a billion in the next 50 years. If we don't reduce immigration and enforce our laws we can never reduce our carbon foot print or reduce the size of our government.
