Comedian Charlie Varon "saves" his audience from worldly despair -- Oh, praise Darwin!

Fourteen minutes of entertainment and scientific education culminates in a profound identity shift: we know that we hail from a long and persistent ancestry. And we owe it to the past to secure a viable future. Praise Darwin!

"I'm proud to be related to a tree shrew!" shouts Brother Charlie.

This video highlights a 1986 performance by Charlie Varon before a live (and enthusiastic) audience. Videographer ghostsofevolution (Connie Barlow) richly illustrates the audio with photos taken all around North America and off the internet -- featuring playful paleo paintings by Ray Troll (of "Cruisin' the Fossil Freeway" fame). Music by Keith Mesecher and the Cosmic All Stars.

Praise, as well, to all the scientists who contributed to our collective knowledge of the Immense Journey of life (a.k.a, Big History)! Scientists pictured in this video include: Charles Darwin, Louis Leakey, Mary Leakey, Richard Leakey, Donald Johanson, Edward O. Wilson, Stephen Jay Gould, and Richard Dawkins.
