Thomas L. Bowen is the Minister of Fellowship & Outreach at the historic Shiloh Baptist Church of Washington, DC.

In addition to being a licensed Baptist minister and public theologian, he is a community organizer, political strategist, and child advocate. He has held several positions in the advocacy community including Senior Religious Advocate for the Children’s Defense Fund and Senior Field Organizer for its Black Community Crusade for Children. Additionally, he is a former Religion Editor for the Washington Informer newspaper.

Minister Bowen is a founding member of the Jamestown Project, an action-oriented think tank, and has served on the Board of Trustees for the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia and the Centennial Celebration Task Force for the American Baptist Churches, Incorporated.

He is a graduate of Morehouse College and studied for the ministry at The Divinity School at the University of Chicago.

A native of Lorain County, Ohio he has called Washington home for the last 10 years and currently resides in the River Terrace neighborhood in Northeast.
