You would think that Obama personally invented the teleprompter and that every President since LBJ hasn't used them.

Just another GOP phony outrage.

Good Gosh , I have been saying this since this nonsense was started several yrs ago by Republicans. Bush Jr didnt like teleprompters, but continually looked the bumbling fool with & without them. Palin reads cues from her hand and attempts to read from telepromter and looks just as bad. Has Obama fumbled and bumbled, Yes. But no worse then ANY previous president since Dwight Eisenhower started using them.

Rick Perry looked all the fool for not using a teleprompter.

It is VERY easy to be distracted when speaking before a live audience. A teleprompter allows the speaker to be sure he or she hasn't missed any of the points they want to cover.

This is a fake issue, championed by Republicans who are too low on the food chain to be asked to speak before an audience.

while over-all I have no problem with teleprompters.....it would be nice for once - to see a politician actually pull a paper out of his pocket - and that politician READ what THEY wrote....not what someone else wrote...what THEY themselves wrote.

There is no difference between words on a page and a teleprompter as far as telling one who actually wrote the material is concerned. They answer is both could have just as easily been written by the speaker or by someone else.

Obama does that at EVERY press conference. He has to think on his feet and give an intelligent response on a wide range of issues. He's certainly better than "W" was.
