Established in 1885, Banff National Park is Canada's oldest national park. It's home to more than 2,500 square miles of breathtaking mountainous terrain (estimated to be between 45 and 120 million years old!), more than 1,000 glaciers, more than 2,400 campsites, ancient alpine meadows and stunning natural ice fields. In addition, it boasts Canada's largest cave system, Castleguard. Open year-round, Banff is one of the world's most-visited national parks, with more than 4 million visitors every year. In 1984, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. This stunning timelapse captures the rugged and unspoiled beauty of this world wonder.
