Dedicated to making the message of the Bible available to every child in their own language and in a way that addresses their unique cultural challenges, Rob Hoskins was appointed president of OneHope (formerly Book of Hope International) in 2004. Since 1989, Hoskins has revolutionized the way OneHope reaches children and youth, expanding the organization from a literature distribution ministry to an innovative outcome-based ministry.

After seeing Swazi Christians attend church on Sunday and often visit their Shaman the next day, Hoskins realized that organizations and missionaries need to know more about each country — its customs and challenges — to ensure life transformation is taking place, not just increased activity or religious affiliation.

Today, OneHope conducts country-specific outcome-based research about the spiritual state of the world’s children to gain insight about children and youths’ daily lives and cultural beliefs. The research findings have dramatically increased OneHope’s effectiveness. In 2009, OneHope made this research publicly available free of charge so other ministries can benefit from the findings.

In addition to transforming the organizational model, Hoskins has overseen expansion of new methods for sharing the message of the Bible with children and youth. One such innovation is The GodMan children’s animated film. Research shows that one in five people in the world cannot read#, which prompted Hoskins to lead his team to produce a kid-friendly film that tells the life story of Jesus. Customized for nine cultural worldviews and translated into some 50 languages, The GodMan has been viewed by more than 38 million children and youth in hosted showings and by hundreds of millions more who have had the opportunity to watch The GodMan on television.

Hoskins grew up as the son of missionaries in Lebanon and France. His own passion for missions led him to create “OneHope Teams,” an initiative that has mobilized thousands to serve in short-term missions and hundreds more to pursue missions as a full-time career.

An ordained general-appointed missionary of the Assemblies of God Church, Hoskins earned a Bachelor of Arts from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, Calif. He is a recipient of John Maxwell's Equip Leadership Award, which honors extraordinary ministry leaders. Hoskins also serves on the Board of Trustees at Oral Roberts University.

Hoskins and his wife Kim, have two daughters, Diandra and Natasha. The Hoskins family lives near OneHope's global headquarters in Pompano Beach, Fla.

A Father's Day Resolution: Become an Emotional, Involved Dad

Posted June 10, 2011 | 09:20:00 (EST)

There's bad news for dads this Father's Day. A new survey of youth opinion shows that less than half of U.S. teens say they are frequently proud of their fathers (source: Attitudes and Behaviors of
Youth, OneHope, 2010). While this certainly is troubling, I can't say I'm surprised.
