Hillary Clinton won an overwhelming victory in West Virginia's Primary last night. But that victory in the heart of her demographic base did nothing to change the fact that the party's nominee will be Barack Obama.
Obama added at least seven new pledged delegates in West Virginia, brining his magic number to clinch the nomination down to 143. After his victory in North Carolina and virtual tie in Indiana, Obama needed 183 more delegates to cross the 2025 majority set by DNC rules. Since then he has gained 40 delegates and now leads Clinton in super delegates by 12 according to RealClearPolitics.com.
Several other key developments:
* Obama now needs only 17 additional pledged delegates to have an absolute majority of all pledged delegates. He will pass that mark next Tuesday when 103 delegates are at stake in Oregon and Kentucky. At that point many additional super delegates have indicated they will declare for Obama. By this time next week, Obama's magic number will be well into the double digits. It is likely that he will clinch the nomination by the end of the month. It is almost certain he will do so within days of the final primaries on June 3rd.
* While Clinton's win in West Virginia was impressive it should be placed into context. West Virginia is populated with a high percentage of older, non-college, white voters -- Clinton's strongest base of support. The impact of her overwhelming victory there is limited by the state's small size. It is the 13th smallest state -- only slightly larger than Idaho -- and represents .6% of the nation's population. That's why it has only 28 delegates, compared to North Carolina's 115.
* When it comes to blow outs, Obama has won 21 contests by more than 20% -- Clinton only 3 (West Virginia, Oklahoma and Arkansas).
* Even if Clinton were to win 65% of the 189 remaining pledged delegates (which she has no chance of doing), Obama would only need one of every three super delegates remaining today. In fact of course, he actually leads Clinton both in overall super delegates and number of super delegates he has picked up in each of the weeks since Super Tuesday.
* While West Virginia was another reminder that Clinton does has more appeal than Obama among lower income whites, the Washington Post/ABC Poll released yesterday shows how much that is offset by his much greater strength among the independent voters who will mainly decide the fall presidential race. The poll showed Obama leading McCain with this key group by nine points -- 51% to 42%. Clinton led McCain by only 3 points, 49% to 46%.
* The best news for Obama last night came from Mississippi. Democrat Travis Childers victory in Mississippi's first district special election demonstrated conclusively the ineffectiveness of Republican attempts to make Obama a negative for Democratic house candidates.
President Bush won the first district by 25% in 2004. The former Republican incumbent (Roger Wicker) won reelection in 2006 by 66%. Yet Childers won with a healthy 54% to 46% victory -- even after the National Republican Campaign Committee devoted almost $1.3 million of its scarce dollars trying to "tie" Childers to Obama.
It had tried the same tact in Louisiana where Democrat Don Cazayoux was also successful in taking a seat that had been in Republican hands for 3 decades.
And earlier this year, when Democrat Bill Foster won an Illinois special election to succeed retiring former Republican Speaker Dennis Hastert, he recruited Obama to make his closing pitch in a TV commercial.
As much as they wish it were true, Obama will not hurt Democratic candidates in down ballot races -- even in very conservative districts. In fact in many cases just the opposite is true. By mobilizing huge numbers of young people and African American voters in November, he will make it more likely that Democrats take an increasing number of Congressional seats in former Republican strongholds - especially in the South.
My apartment in Washington is next door to the Republican National Committee. As I walked by this morning, I could almost feel the whole place quaking in its boots.

JOHN EDWARDS HAS ENDORSED SENATOR OBAMA!!!
OBAMA 08
so
Edwards endorsing Kerry/Edwards 04 didn't work out too well.
His endorsement would have counted for something if he'd taken action at the end of February, when Obama became the presumtive nominee.
Ah, but it kinda takes the wind out of Hillary's sails, doesn't it.... on top of the endorsement itself, the fact that it was delivered in Grand Rapids, MICHIGAN.
Obama obviously has a superior campaign organization. They're obviously smart and in touch.
As a beleagured liberal in Bob Jones country, I raise my glass to Barack Obama.
It counts big time after WVA. We stole her thunder.
Sen. Clinton's "demographic base" did not exist untill Sen. Obama's "bitter" remarks allowed her to move to the center. Up untill that moment there was no precived difference between Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton on the issues. The problem Sen. Clinton had to that point was the fact that Sen. Obama was, and still is, a novelty. That and the fact the the Obama campaign out hussled the Clinton campaign in the caucus states. It is very difficult to run against something when that something is really nothing.
the amazing thing about Obamabots is that you truly know nothing about either candidate... this campaign has been likened to a revival meeting .. it's clearly about religion, not intelligence.
If Obama voters are so stupid, why are we the educated, rich ones? If Hillary is so brilliant, why is she so broke. C'mon Hillpeople, put your money where your mouth is.
Hillary, if you don't get the Dem nomination, start your own third party. You have nothing to lose, nothing. You have history to make. You can take Obama and McCain in the general election. The population is tired of the Dems and Reps. Congress only has an 18% approval. We are ready for real change and a new independent party.
Hillary will not start a new party. She will know that this will forever doom her political career. She will work hard for Obama and be an asset to his election as President. She will also head up all of the issues related to changing how health care works in this country. No VP for her, but certainly someone who would work closely with the new Obama administration.
With John Edwards set to announce his support for Obama tonight, the race is all but over. I predict that he will by May 20 or days later have the requisite 2025 delagates.
It does not matter, because once he gets 2025, that triggers the steps from the major players like Pelosi to move in as Superdelegates and pledge publicly their support for him at the convention.
While Clinton will fight for new numbers, the states will be seated, but not as Clinton wants. the number should will be revised to 2130, which Obama will have handily, according to Ed Sholtz.
Where did you hear that about John Edwards? What made him finally decide to get off the fence?
A political career means nothing to her. She is in it for the big prize. Sitting it out in Congress is meaningless. She could be a Paul Fisher also ran. Or even losing as a third party she would have Teddy Roosevelt status. Yes, that's it, resurrect the Bull Moose Party. At least she would ensure a place in history instead of being a footnote.
Go for it Hillary. History never remembers also rans.
a third party run makes sense if she believes that the nomination has been hijacked away from rank and file democrats by voters who put personality before the party and its core values. it might be the only way to win, and return the party back to its base.
let's hope she opts out as so many obama supporters have suggested.
But how will HRC represent "real change"? The DLC is pretty far from that.
that's exactly my point...if you are for real change you want an outsider, a true independant...I don't think Hillary or Obama represent that...although Obama seems to have some cross over positions....but my point is, Hillary as an independant makes no sense
How does Hillary represent real change? She has been around for ever and she admits she is the best at this "game" called politics. I totally get that some people want a 3rd party and I totally get that some people do not like McCain and they do not like Obama for various reasons. And I get that many want Hillary to be the nominee. But how on earth does Hillary represent anything but the democrat ic party. Her views, her issues, her positions are 100% democratic. I can only conclude that you are so upset with the democratic party or feel Obama does not represent that party even though his policy positions are very close to Hillary's. Why be upset with the party. The DNC is follwoing its rules and the candidates all agreed to them. What is the problem. In elections, there are winners and losers. that is the name of the game and Hillary has been a winner many times, Surely she understands the game better than anyone.
How does Barack? He's a Chicago pol, his record is a close to Clinton's as any in the senate, he is the 10th most liberal senator - not the most as the rags claimed, he has bought superdelegates to the tune of 5 times Clinton, his marketing campaign smacks of religiosity of the Bush years - not anything 'new'.
There is a bumper sticker 'got hope?' oh, clever, right, a take-off on 'got milk'.... wow clever. But this is a religious question, not a political one, but the followers, like the people in the Emperor's New Clothes must hide their confusion and join the ranks of the born again singing 'Yes I Can' - I can WHAT???? This is so meaningless it borders on insanity but it's religion.
BO's campaign is doomed - the average non-YouTuber is going to think you all are nuts....look at his failure in PA - this thousands of Obamabots harassing the people, W VA - which he gave up on... will the arrogant brat learn? No .. and that's why you all can spit on Clinton all you want, your deity has way more than feet of clay.
from your lips to gods ears. let's hope she runs as a third party candidate.
The bottom line is that, even if Michigan and Florida are counted in a way that is most advantageous to Hillary, she'll still wind up at least 100 delegates short of Obama. No matter what Howard Wolfson says, the race is over. The sooner Hillary gets on board and works to unify the party behind Obama, the better it will be for everyone.
.....except the considerable number of voters--including Democrats--who consider Obama a SHAM with an agenda clouded by 'sappy sonorities....'
As for Creamer, his zealotry easily rises to an asteroidal level of giddiness: Likely he would parse another mass extinction or prolonged drought to be "GOOD FOR OBAMA" and "BAD FOR HILLARY..." How would Creamer manage to correlate a failure of the pistacchio (nut) crop to what is "GOOD FOR OBAMA" and "BAD FOR HILLARY"? Creamer must be a positive leviathan wizard when staring at the tea leaves in the bottom of a cup. Still, he'd better not stray to far from a toilet!
A sham? Would that include lying about being under fire after you voted to authorize an unnecessary war that has killed over 4000 Americans? Would it include pandering to the gun lobby until the relative of a gun crime victim calls you on it? Would it include pandering about a gas tax holiday that wouldn't save anyone a red cent but would increase already obscene oil company profits when you had no problem with your husband imposing a much larger gas tax at the beginning of his presidency? Ooops!!! Sorry, that's Hillary, isn't it? In fact, the word kinda defines her, doesn't it? Ouch!!!
American hates a quiter - go Hillary
America also hates people who put their egos before the good of the country. Its time to unify the party.
Great article.
To all you Obama-haters, get over it. If she was such a great politician and so unbeatable in the general, then she would have wrapped this up by Super Tuesday. He didn't steal this election from her. She lost it on her own merit, despite having a massive lead and every possible advantage. He is clearly the better candidate as evidenced by the fact he is WINNING and she is LOSING. If she can't manage to win among Democrats, what hope does she have in the general? That she still doesn't see this is just further proof that she is living in the 90's, like a former prom queen clinging to her glory days and weeping over her tarnished tiara. Someone with real class knows when it is time to move on. Then again, no one ever accused a Clinton of class.
Yes, we can! Yes, we will win!
Go my President Obama! You are the best!
premature
Yes even Hillary wins Obama's political stock rises, as well as Democrats lossing their White House term, every Obama's rising stock will fully support to Mc Cain and the Republican will surely be riding high for the next White House term.
It is interesting to see the establishment endorse Obama, a young man with little experience and political clout, prior to the primary playing itself out. Have president, with pen.
The primaries have played themselves out and Obama will win no matter where Hillary wants to drag the goalpost.
Math does not lie. Statistics do not lie. One does not need the whole process to end to tell who's going to win.
It is clear you never took a stat course in college. Statistics can be manipulated to say almost anything.
Senator Clinton's large margin of victory in West Virginia last night should have set off loud alarms throughout the Democratic party. The red alert for Democrats concerns whether they want the general election to be about issues-- or race. 22% of West Virginians cited race as a factor-- two-thirds of these voters will not vote for Barack Obama in the fall. Clinton ran up the score in West Virginia with her "hard-working Americans, white Americans" comments and made sure the message was heard loud and clear: many working class whites won't vote for Obama.
Well, Democrats *should* hear the message. And bring this contest to the dignified close which Senator Clinton herself is unwilling to do. Superdelegates will not overrule the voters on account of whites in central Pennsylvania or West Virginia who won't vote for a black candidate. If anything, they will accelerate the nominating process to make sure Obama has enough time to win over those blue collar white voters whose economic interests are best served by the Democratic agenda.
Obama needs to make in-roads among older whites, white women and Latinos. With the math in his favor, now he needs just one thing: time. As the primaries drag out, Obama has less time to talk face to face with these voters. When he has done this, he has won. Obama-- and other Democrats on local ballots-- need all the time that's left.
for the colorblind party, you dems sure are NOT colorblind. Whites / Blacks, this is all very sickening
It's fascinating how members of the party built on racism jump up and down screaming about imagined racism among Democrats. Isn't that called "projection?"
What is sickening is that Black voters have turned their backs on the Clinton's that helped them for the past 30 years only because a Black candidate is running. This wouldn't matter if the Senator from Illinois was qualified or had expericne in any area that the average American needs help in. The truth that should be investigated is who is purchasing Obama's White House office. According to the ABC Debates transcript and CNN since the debates, 50% of Obama's supporters gave $1,000 or more. The math works out to be around 100,000 individuals giving him $1,000 or more and not the small $25-100 donations that Obama claims. But then what can be expected from a habitual liar?
The message is: despite Hillary winning the "working whites" (what, whites in Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin don't work??) Obama is still winning the thing and will not be overtaken.
The message for you: instead of focusing on what Hillary does, why don't you recognize that Obama does mobilize a new group (young, educated, multicultural, affluent, formerly apathetic non voters) that neither Hillary nor McCain can even touch.
For that reason, the "swing state" and "white working class" argument has not turned out anything valid. Real proof: Obama winning overall and cannot be overtaken. How is Hillary doing in the delegates race? How is she doing in the Superdelegates race? Really great??
Obama can win the whites just fine. He can also bring into the fray new people that would consider only voting for Obama.
I also like the FACT that Obama just got MORE votes in W. VA. in the primary than McCain got in W. VA in the primary. Go look that one up. Obama got more votes than McCain.
Yes, it is time we ALL stopped pandering to small, vocal, unchangable MINORITIES of people. That has been an historic problem for the Democratic Party -- they keep trying to play for that small group of people who will never change rather than listening to US, the large majority of the population. Don't let this small demographic change our direction -- go for what is right. That's where Hillary and the traditional "democratic think' get it wrong.
Exactly right, pdsimdars. Define clear core issues and stand behind them. If there's one thing that has frustrated me as a democrat, it's the lack of resolve (i.e.: not standing up to Bush). You can't be everything to everyone. Let people vote for their candidate of choice.
The winds of change are blowing, and the negative, hateful fear tactics aren't working because people are waking up. Bush said today that putting a Democrat in the White House may lead to terror attacks. Amazing. He's still trying that same, tired crap. You can only cry wolf so many times before you lose your credibility.
Likewise, there was a time when I thought it might be OK to offer HRC the VP slot as a gesture to unify the party. I'm sure Barack has kicked that around, too. At this point, I think it would be counter-productive. If she thinks that she's going pull some kind of power play, I say walk away and let people make their choice in November. Eight more years of failure or a positive, inspired direction into the future. It's just too damn bad that we let that chimp make such a complete mess of things.
OOh we can't get the toothless inbreds in wva, WAAAAA.
The statement in new's posting is as racist and bigoted as anything said in this campaign.
(continuation of previous comment - this site needs to allow longer responses!!!)
I've heard people here in WV, most of whom admit to not following current events, say they are concerned Obama's race will be such an issue, he won't be able to get anything done. A "whisper down the valley" kind of rumor mongering gets these loopy ideas passed along. WV is singularly devoid of racial diversity. People here are unfortunately lacking in experience with other cultures, and often maintain a kind of innocent prejudice without roots in reality. Often they've grown up hearing the "n" word used in casual conversation or listening to racial jokes, and don't even understand how offensive this is. It's interesting that when exposed to people their prejudices seem to have no bearing on their willingness to accept others.
I've found local residents to be warm, welcoming, intelligent in many ways including academically well educated. There's diversity here, just not of the ethnic or racial type. It is true, however, that among the more educated Democrats, Obama is the clear favorite.
How can a wealthy woman who sat on the board of Walmart connect more with American workers than a man who actually got down in the trenches to work for better conditions for poor people? It's bizarre, but I don't think it's about Hillary Clinton's working class credentials. It's sad to think this, but at least here in West Virginia, much of it is about race. And much of it stems from ignorance.
Thanks for the comment Lee Ann G. I have learned something. While I can't say that all WV's are racist. It is at least refreshing to understand how their racism stems from their basic ignorance of other cultures. It's sad to hear and I feel sorry for those that are not so ignorant, because you have a steep road to climb to bring those people up. Keep on educating them Lee Ann and do not despair, we all have relatives that are just as ignorant sometimes, some catch on faster than others and when they see all the good Obama brings to this country and the unification tthat will ensue, they will be impressed favorably because a black man saved America from 8 years of ignorance.
Amen! Obama with his unique and once in a lifetime candidacy has totally changed the electoral map in 2008, those that live be 2000 and 2004 are dwelling in the past. Obama doesn't have to win the "white working class" vote, he just has to make enough inroads to resonate with them and get the right amount of votes. What he will do is bring in record amount of new voters and new African American voters to offset the "working class whites" that won't vote for him because he is black. I spoke to several of my older family members, and they said they have NEVER seen this much enthusiasm and excitement in the black community when it comes to politics. People seem to forget that a vast majority of African Americans don't vote, but with record voter registration drives and the first true viable black candidate they will come out in droves, along with young people inspired by the process.
Hopefully, Barack's candidacy will go some distance toward easing those concerns. I think we've got some huge issues to deal with, and the time seems right to get past the race thing.
In addition to winning the Democratic Nomination, there is one other thing I would ask of Barack Obama. Please, please find a compromise to the Michigan and Florida impasse before May 31. If Hillary somehow gets credit for solving this problem we will never here the end of it. If Obama should loose to McCain, God forbid, then Hillary will make this the centerpiece of her campaign in 2012.
Why should there be a compromise? Both states broke the rules they knew quite well. Live with it.
If Obama gives into this BS he will totally lose my respect.
The rules actually say, 50% off the delegates have to count. The DNC just ignored that rule. By ignoring that rule, they violated the rights of Florida and Michigan. So if we follow the rules, those two states should be allowed to revote.
I'm a West Virginia transplant, having moved here from Pennsylvania nearly 30 years ago. I'm a 60 year old white woman, and I most definitely do not support Hillary Clinton. How can any Democrat continue to back any candidate who claims her Republican opponent is more qualified than her Democratic rival? This is unconscionable! The constant diversionary tactics like flag lapel pins, Obama's use of the word "cling," the dredging up of Rev. Wright, and other non-issues continue to gain traction with uninformed voters, but they make Clinton appear petty and vindictive.
One of the most ridiculous fears working class whites have about Obama, at least from the comments I've heard from friends and acquaintances is that he will "take away our guns." This is, of course, absurd. In reading political news on a daily basis, mostly I will admit on left-leaning sites and in publications like the Nation, I have never seen anything to support this claim. I also watch some corporate media - just to find out what the talking heads are saying - and read articles in the Washington Post, NY Times, and other news outlets. Nothing there either. Where does this notion come from?
I only wish more informed folk like you went to the polls in his favor last night. So sad that people can be so misled when the issues are so very important.
Obama '08
This notion is trumped up by the people who want "hard-working white Americans", or as Howard Dean put it "guys in pickup trcuks with confederate flags on their windshields"..it is an effort to scare those voters into voting once again against their own best interests. It's a hot button issue with that population. So they'll use it..just as they used the "Hamas" non-issue against Obama. whatever they can find to use, they'll use it. The Republicans are desperate not to lose these voters..and guess what..they seem to be getting smarter. So it probably won't work.
This notion comes from people who will make up excuses like, "he'll take away our guns," or he's Muslim or he'll be a president for black people ... or anything else, no matter how absurd, rather than to simply say, he's black!
I find it so ironic that many of these are the same people who were so offended by Reverend Wright reminding us of America's racist history in the past and the reality of racism that still exists in America today. They called HIM racist for saying these things, for bring up things that we've put behind us ... and then they walk into the voting booth and vote for Hillary because she's the white candidate!
Ask 'em what they need the guns for if the Republic itself is lost to Bu$hco politics. Don't they think creeps like that guy who shot up V Tech should be kept from having guns?
i don't even own a gun, but Obama would veto a bill if it came from congress eliminating them. He is the biggest liberal in the senate, with only 2-3 years under his belt, and 1 of those years he was campaigning and not anywhere near the senate.
He is an UNTESTED, UNPROVEN, candidate.
You people are foolish, you have NO IDEA what kind of president he would make.
If he wins, I will weep for our country
I weep for my country that people like yourself are allowed to vote.
And you are a fool who is repeating baseless replicant talking points. Crawl back under your bridge, troll. Nobody's interested in your spam.
Don't worry about the what the media is saying America. That Obama will be force to take Hellary on as the VP. The Party would'nt allow that to happen. Don't you people get what is happening here, the Republicans want Hellary on the ticket. This is the only way that they can keep the white house, with her on the ticket. This woman and her family has a bad reputation. The media is behind this as well. They dont want Obama to be President, because they will lose all of the control. Just remember. The "Capitol Hill Sex Crime". It involves a lot of the media group and house representatives. Research it yourself...do your own discovery. Find the information out for yourself, dont be fool.
Trial Date,
You are mostly right, the Repubs want Hillary on the ticket like you couldn't imagine. It is telling that Kennedy immediately came out and indicated that Obama should chose anyone he wanted to, someone that stood for progressive politics, like say, JIM WEBB.
I like the idea of the female governor of Kansas or even Claire McCaskill or even Bill Richardson, however I think that on the whole, Webb brings everything that we want to the table what a show of unity that would be a former Republican, Vietnam Vet, and just everything that is good about America. Plus the Dems would win Virginia with him.
Although the others would be good choices as well!
On another subject I was surprised to see
alot of Hill Billaries in West Virginia. Hey, its their state and West Virginia can do what it wants. I won't knock the people, but it sounds to me like another country.
i remember when the obama people first said the unpledged delegates should vote as thier states did.opps hillary took mass which meant the kennedy should vote for her. change of plans.they should follow the will of hte people, fla and mich come back and she takes the popular vote.change 2 they should vote for who has the majority pledged delegates.of course the rules say they can vote for whoever they want.but then again whats are rules to obama.he agreed not to run ads in fla ,did anyways.so much for rules are rules.they are rules unless you get some dnc official to overturn them.but wait every agreed to those rules too just like the primary date rules.
then the nonsense with mich,HE pulled his name off hte ballot, funny he didnt pull it off fla too.maybe because hethought he couold win fla??but knew he couldnt win mich. but then he ran ads in mich saying to vote uncommitted to vote for him, another rules violation.i know why dont we skip thenonsense of voting and let the dnc decide since they dont enforce all the rules unless they favor obama.
howard dean need to go.this has been a huge mess.thank god he never became president.he cant even run the dnc.
Yes, Howard Dean has done a terrible job. That "50 State Strategy" didn't work either.
Well, I'll tell you this, uncleT. All my friends laughed at me last summer when I observed that the Dems could turn South Carolina (my state) blue if they put the least amount of effort into doing so. Kerry got 41.9% of the total vote here in the 2004 election--in one of the supposedly most conservative states in the nation! Obama's people were visibly on the ground here--in Bob Jones country--as early as last summer, and my friends are eating their words now. Even the pundits (FWIW) have started saying South Carolina is in play for 2008.
Obama / Webb '08
Mr. Creamer may be correct that "the party's nominee will be...Obama." However, Creamer should have added that Obama CANNOT get elected president without the support of 17 MILLION people who voted for Senator Clinton. I offer a single question for Sen. Obama. For months you stated,"I can no more disown (Wright) than I can disown the black community." To what degree will you "disown" those who supported you for your calculating, but courteous manner?
To what degree will you support Clinton even after her take-down? To what degree are you willing to live with McCain and his continuation of all things Bush? Have you been waiting for the overturning of Roe v. wade? Do you wish to have the Arctic Wilderness further despoiled? Is your most favorite wish 100 more years of war?
C'mon now, put on your big-girl panties, suck it up, throw off the bitterness and vote for the Democrat come fall. That is, unless you're really a stealth Republican posing on this board.
Do you wish to have the Arctic Wilderness further despoiled? Have you even been there? if that oil helps us as a nation, why not get it? If this country goes your way of thinking, we will all be riding bikes and using candles with no refrigeration and airconditioning. Our whole way of life is tied to energy. What energy solutions do you propose. The Libs have tied our countries hands, we cannot look for oil ANYWHERE, we cannot build power plants, we cannot build nuke plants; we cannot harness water thru new dam projects, What is left?
We are a great nation because we have the BEST of EVERYTHING, and that starts with energy! No energy, no 'best' in the world.
You people cannot see the forest thru the trees.
I'm fairly confident that most of those who are supporting Senator Clinton, just as most of those who are supporting Senator Obama, are loyal Democrats, and they will support the Democratic nominee in the general election. Senator Clinton herself has promised to support Senator Obama, which is in effect, supporting the values and vision of our Party, which they both share. So those who choose not to support Senator Obama, are not only repudiating Senator Clinton's values, but are repudiating the values of the Party as well. Therefore, their investment in this election is not in Hillary, nor is it in the Party or the country, but in their own selfish interests! I do not doubt that the Democratic Party will unite in the general and will stand together to defeat the Republicans, and those who choose instead to vote for McCain or stay home, will receive some self-gratification I'm sure from wallowing in their self-pity and vindictiveness. This is your choice, and it's a choice that only you can justify and will have to live with. I truly hope that you will reconsider your options and responsibility as a citizen of this democracy, but ultimately, Senator Obama will win this election with or without you.
I think you're wrong about that. All those who voted for Hillary aside . . . . . Obama did just get more votes in WVA than McCain got in WVA. That's a fact.
The reason, they split up their old voting pool and Obama brings a whole new, huge group of voters to the table that cancels that old thinking out.
