John McCain Channels Dr. Strangelove

Inspired by Arianna's observation about John McCain channeling George C. Scott in Dr. Strangelove, the team at Brave New Films has put together this video (with a hat tip to MSNBC's Joe Scarborough for providing the final voice over -- and the best campaign slogan ever!) Check it out.

McCain wants to be the next "War President".

If he's elected President, he'll restart the Vietnam War to settle some scores.

Know the opposition....

Before Getting $3 Million Loan, McCain Had to Buy Life Insurance

Just how dire was John McCain's financial situation last year, before he vaulted back to frontrunner status? The Washington Post has some details on the $3 million loan that McCain took out in order to finance the campaign, including a rather macabre detail — because McCain pledged his fundraising list as collateral, and he would need to be alive to give the list its full value, he had to take out a special life insurance policy just in case he failed to survive the campaign.

As it turned out, the gamble appears to have paid off. McCain has won the crucial primaries in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida, and looks like he's on his way to the nomination. As for the debts — he was $500,000 in the hole even before this loan — he should have no problems raising the money now

Who's crazier? John McCain or General Buck Turgidson? Those would be some hilariously funny intercuts, were they not so scary.

I wonder if the reasons for these "new" wars will be based on truth? That'd be nice for a change.

I don’t know what I find more sad, that John McCain is selling his soul to become president, or that his opposition is celebrating his deviation from his own principles. Say what you will, McCain was a hero and proved his loyalty to this country. The fact he has descended into the partisan - special interest abyss should strike fear in us all; fear that our system (as it currently stands) will corrupt even the best among us.

Just a thought John Macain was not born in the united states of America. He was born on a united states gov. base in panama.

I particulary liked when McCain answered a question on the Economy at the debate by touting his Viet Nam days...what the hell did THAT have to do with our current economy?

McCain's military career consisted of dropping high explosives on Vietnamese from 10,000 ft., and this has given him a bloodless, antiseptic view of war. He does not have the true war experience of Webb, Kerry, or Powell.

War is a racket and is how soldier's careers progress the fastest. Wars are the health of the military establishment maintaining their own honor, patriotism, servitude and nobility.

It serves the officer core the most for to their children and grandchildren they can have continued stories of their heroism during their careers. They call it love of country though actually it is love of self and self glorification at the expense of the tax payer.

It is tragic and most will deny it, though it is true and each knows it though if they were to admitt it honestly and honestly acknowledge the horrific costs to earth and humanity,
military establishments would be banned from earth as criminal enterprises and organized crime systems.

As a democratic voter in Florida, I would like to take this opportuntity to appologise to the rest of the United States for my misguided neocon/zionist neighbors whom voted for McCain in the recent "Closed Republican Primary".

The greater majority of our population here are senior citizens. Many more still are veterans or military, and/or have a vested interest in maintaining the war machine for the Military Industrial Complex. Within a two mile radius I can see Raytheon, Honeywell, Lockheed, GPS Systems, Active and Reserve Installations, etc. (But that's because my Republican congressman earmark king of 39 years saw fit as Chairman of Appropriations-Defense to bring home plenty of pork.)

Yes, we have a lot of war-mongering, testosterone driven, beer drinking, gun-toting, Confederate flag displaying racist rednecks and too many of them on Viagra that just like to prove their stupidity in public. I think it feeds their simple-minded ego and must compensate their sense of worthlessness. {I am reminded of a past experience as a campaign volunteer when I came into contact with one such challenged individual who threated to shoot me and my children for knocking on his trailer because I woke him from a Bud stupor during a NASCAR dream.}

Additionally, it appears that Faux News has saturated the broadcasting market here; only perpetuating the ill educated concept of reality. This channel is on in public hospital waiting rooms and doctor's offices as well as 24/7 for the homebound senior citizen wishing to re-fight the Cold War or satisfy deeply flawed needs the Vietnam War or Korea stripped them of.

But, do not lose faith, because I have already received phone calls from some of my courageous Republican friends (young and old) who are paying attention and they are so disgusted with Bush and the Republican Party --- they stayed home on Tuesday and didn't vote. Additionally, many Democrats stayed home because they were told their votes didn't matter.

There is hope in Florida... Obama08

The sad and indeed scary truth is that John McWayne is crazier than George C, Scott's character was and that's undeniably fucking crazy.

Johnnymac ALSO deludes himself that the citizens of OUR country remain too dumb to have figured out the invasion and occupation of Iraq was 'NEVER' part of the war on terror.

And, resembling INSANE neoCON behavior, he seems to think that the corporations of war and oil making their record 'occupation profits', and the members of OUR Government bought off with corporate campaign contributions(bribes), as well as the kool-aid drinking supporters that will tell ANY lie or accept ANY hypocrisy to retain party 'power', - represent the correct type ideals for OUR country's survival, and the type of 'honor' he SHOULD CHOOSE to stand for,...

rather than 'oaths to protect' The Constitution.
