The Real Rudy

At a recent debate in Iowa, Rudy Giuliani was asked, "In 30 seconds, what is a defining mistake of your life and why?" He made a joke about how he couldn't possibly list all his mistakes in 30 seconds. Ha!

So we gave it a try. Watch The REAL Rudy in 30 seconds.

What is his biggest mistake? Refusing to get working radios to firefighters before 9/11? Cross dressing? 3 marriages? An estranged daughter who supports Obama for president? Locating the emergency command center in the only place in New York City that had already been attacked by terrorists? The list goes on and on...

Vote for Rudy's biggest mistake at TheRealRudy.org.

Enjoy the teaser, but get ready for our very serious The REAL Rudy videos to come. We have some very powerful interviews with experts about his so-called 9/11 expertise, and heartbreaking stories from the families whose sons were killed due to his negligence. We don't want to give it all away, but we promise you will NEVER look at him the same way again.

Fascinating!!!! Rudy is NOT the issue...it's STILL the Republican Party who genuflect to charlatans and fakes like Rudy, BUSHY, MITTY, JOHNNIE, et al who say what the 50's neo-neanderthal crowd wants to hear while the rest of us are living in the 21st century. The rest of us who live in the REAL WORLD snicker and chortle at the pitiful and pathetic parade of these 'swindlers of the truth' who saunter up to the 'trickle-down trough' of the wealthy elitist fascist Reprostituted Party
and say what their 'campaign wranglers' write
while NOT believing in our Constitution, our historic freedoms of speech, of religion, of assembly, of citizen rights and of true democracy. NOT a one of these Repug candidates support ALL the rights of citizenship that our Constitution guarantees- just follow them to the 'trickle-down trough' where the corporate fascists gives them their 'marching orders'....

The only thing more monumental than Rudy's ego and greed is the collosal ignorance of those who support him. These would be the same morons who voted for Bush and are responsible for the other monumental egos currently holding the White House hostage. Jeez, people, what will it take to get through to you??? Oh yeah, now maybe you'll have Fred Thompson to save your sorry arses. It's a Comedy of Errors, the Blind Leading the Blind!

Rudy offers nothing to America in terms of change. Giuliani in my opinion is nothing more than President Bush wrapped in a somewhat respectable man's body. His big problem is he, like many Republicans, has latched onto the 'You're with us or against us' school of political thought. There is very little that I find admirable about his politics, even if he does have a positively regarded political record.

Rudy's Health Care Plan:

Tax breaks for those already financially able to afford health care; i.e. insurance co welfare.

Under the cover of this, not only small businesses, but large corporations will cut health care as part of wage packages.

Because even individuals who work in situations where the businesses used to procure group rates will with this tax break (not cost neutral vis a vis national deficits), still be able to afford insurance as a result, the cost of insurance to those of the working class who, formerly covered by their employers, previously benefitted from those group rates, rather than plummeting as he claims, will rise, but it will be an invisible rate hike to the wealthiest among us.

Along with lower middle class and lower class individuals unable to turn the few hundred dollars of tax break they get at the very best into insurance coverage (the Rand think tank estimates that if such tax incentives provided 50% of health insurance premiums, which Rudy's plan will not even come close to doing, only 3% of those currently uninsured would opt for insurance--to put it in more homely terms, you can't squeeze blood from a turnip), those who had been covered in the work place with pre-existing conditions--those who need insurance most--will be priced out.

Fewer, not more Americans will be covered; the health care crisis both in financial cost and poor health results, which include a decline in worker productivity, will all occur at a time when the baby boom generation hits the emergency room and retires, seriously reducing both national productivity and tax revenues.

Tax breaks for the wealthy, corporate welfare, smoke and mirrors; our grandchildren footing the bill for the incompetent and greedy short-sightedness of so-called conservative fiscal policy--Rudy G.

Millions will be spent by corporate America in a desperate attempt to keep a Republican in office. They love the lack of regulations that would force them to be responsible citizens in the world arena. Simpleton religious wacko's will continue to vote for these liars and of course Big Money will open their wallets in the hopes of stuffing them again by cheating Americans. Will not happen in Nov 2008. Go DEMOCRATIC PARTY. And make sure you help Americans and do not just become Republican-lite.

I see no one wanted to comment on the steel from the towers being hauled away and sold for scrap..."Julie" should be arrested. He declares Ground Zero a "crime scene",but allows the evidence not just removed, but destroyed. Two of the tallest buildings in the world reduced to rubble and evidence is sent to China(and wherever else)? Why couldn't we recycle all that good steel and use it in the construction of the NEW buildings? That's because the "Official Story" of 9/11 stinks like Rudy.Where I'm from, when you allow evidence to be destroyed, you're trying to cover up a crime. If you'll lie about the attacks, you'll lie about ANYthing.
I guess no one remembers Rudy's cops asking a guy for drugs-and shooting him when he told them to get lost. Or Rudester releasing the supposedly sealed juvenile arrest record of a guy that his cops shot up. Or Diallo.Or Louima. Hopefully,if Rudes advances, we'l remind him about this stuff.

Yes, we have very short memories unfortunately. Most of America doesn't know about those controversies...yet. I'd even forgotten about them (I'm a New Yorker) until you brought them up. Thanks, we should never forget things like that.

Mack--Hillary's not my main gal, but it never pays to underestimate a Clinton. Those Clintons win elections and no matter how many out there hate them, they are always popular. And in the final analysis, there's not one Republican that can undo the stench of incompetence about themselves that reeks to the high heavens--incompetent, crooked, pompous, and wrong headed, stuck in history a half decade ago--the elephant in the room right now.
09:24 PM on 09/04/2007
95% of the audience here will never vote for Rudy or any other republican. The few brave souls (the other 5%) would vote for Yosemite Sam rather than Hillary anytime, anywhere. Truth is Hillary will get her 40 or 45% of the vote in November of 08’. But unless there is a third party candidate to split the republicans and independent Hilary haters, she has no chance. I can understand your fear of Rudy but anyone of the other guys will clean her clock as well. You better be finding a new Ross Perot if you want her to win.

I would like to see republican candidates support global poverty, we see that the focus of most candidates has been "fighting" immigration but I believe that global poverty and immigration have to do with the same core issue. If we focused on fighting global poverty there would be less need for people to leave their countries in search of a better future.

Whipcord is right; these talking points are meaningless. It's Giuliani's no nothing politics that makes him so eminently dismissable. Ok, Bernie Kerik was a dumb blunder. Above all things Giuliani can't tell the difference between midtown Manhattan and the Middle East. But rest assured if elected he'll crack down on the porn movie theaters in Bagdhad.
04:30 PM on 09/04/2007
The site of the tower attack should have been treated as a hazardous waste site, covered, and proper protection and time allowed for the workers who cleaned it up. Instead, we had to hurry as fast as possible to make it seem like Americans can fix any problem you send our way. We're fine and capable. This is true, we can fix any problem, we are capable. But, we often jump into things hastily and without thinking them through, without considering all possibilities. We could saved the health of the workers by going slower and thinking of safety. The Mayor should have figured that out.
04:34 PM on 09/04/2007
It was the site of a criminal act. It is a felony offense to disturb a crime scene. Yet, they could not get those steel beams to China fast enough. Why?

The radios that failed to function were supplied by a contributor to Ghouliani's campaign.
04:45 PM on 09/04/2007
Six years later they still don't have the radios the Democrats who run the Fire Fighter Union want. Bloomberg won't give them these radios either. What about it?

3. Three marriages? So you're the marriage police, is that it?

No, that would be the neocons whose hypocritical, phony stance of judging the morality of anyone with whom they disagree is obvious to the entire country.
04:22 PM on 09/04/2007
When did you ever hear Giuliani do this? I defy you to provide even one quote or link of him speaking about family values or other neo con SoCon nonsense.

Amen whip.

Obviously, these lefties are scared shitless of Rudy.
They know what a strong candidate he will be.
He'll be strong in the south and NJ and PA.
very rare for a repub.

so they smear and smear.
the cross dressing smear is so ridiculous. a skit, exactly.

Should we look at every skit Al Franken did, before we go to the voting booth???

Ok, let's try this again:

That’s certainly the pot calling the kettle black. Just ask Vince Foster. Oh, I guess you can’t because he’s dead. Then ask the lengthy list of women he forced himself on and then trashed their reputations. If Clinton had any class his answer would have been “being unfaithful to my wifeâ€. But then again that was all a “vast right wing conspiracy.â€

Let's address these 'mistakes' one by one:

1. The radios were scrambled by the fires in the towers

2. Cross dressing? You mean, like, in a *skit*? That is, as in, in a *play on a stage*? Is that what you mean? You make it sound like he was cruising in tranny bars in SoMa in San Francisco.

3. Three marriages? So you're the marriage police, is that it?

4. She put on a Facebook page, "Barack Obama." Yeah, I would say that's a disastrous mistake on her father's part. Where are those rolling eye icons? In case you somehow don't know this, onlinbe dorm rooms like Facebook are hardly elixirs of veracity.

5. Both the FBI and the CIA had emergency command centers in that building asd well. Waddya know?
04:27 PM on 09/04/2007
Whip,
Get a life. You need to start reading a little more news and thinking for yourself. Saying QUOTE at the beginning of a paragraph doesn't automatically lend itself to thought provoking commentary. You need more that a one liner to convince anyone that the radios were not faulty before going in to the tower. Come back with a little research based commentary and we will listen.

"Let's address these 'mistakes' one by one:

That is just an outright lie. The police radios did not operate on the same frequency as the fire department radios. They could never have communicated with each other, fire or no fire.

Way back when I had some dim hopes for the future of this republic, I used to think that Rudy's impatient and transparent disdain for those who held views opposing his would all by itself be reason enough he could never get elected to national office. Back then, my fear about Rudy was that he might get tapped by a republican administration to be attorney general, wherein by exercising his fascist reflexes he might do terrible damage to our constitutional rights, admittedly a smaller problem today than back then when we had more of them.

I still think he can't win the presidency, but that AG job? A nightmare that keeps on giving. Only Rudy's colossal self-regard keeps him from such lowly aspirations, but after a decisive defeat at the polls, the attractions of practical control of a police state may well prove irresistible to him, at which point I'm Canadian.
04:31 PM on 09/04/2007
Excuses, excuses, excuses. So if he jumps into a one mile deep hole and the FBI did, too, that makes it correct?
He is a Republican! This obligates you for a certain set of standards: among others: married to one woman, drag in an anti gay party - not such a hot idea, family adversity because of asshole father behavior is not a landmark of Republican behavior.
Then leadership values demand smart behaviour, if the FBI and CIA have center in that spot a leader finds a different spot. But that demands courage.

There is nothing I like about Rudy except his cross dressing. At least we know he's not a homophobe.
03:56 PM on 09/04/2007
The thing about Guliani is that you can tell already that he is as stupid as Bush. He's also as big a liar as Bush and I really don't think he could even do as good a job as Bush...and that's really saying something.

The difference is that, this time, we see it all up front!

With Bush we had it played out over a period of months and years before we realized just how incompetent he and his whole crowd was.

Well, caveate emptore (sp?)
04:00 PM on 09/04/2007
Stupid is he? Without exaggeration, without puffery, Giuliani was one of the three or four most successful prosecutors in the entire history of humankind. Stupid?????

Without exxageration or puffery? Please. Go back to the hole you came out of.

Apparently you never saw Rudy when he and Alphonse "My mother dropped me on my head when I was a baby" D'Amato dressed up and went along on some sort of drug bust. They were inappropriately dressed, looking very much the fools they actually are.

Like D'Amato, Rudy never saw a camera he didn't love. He was an adequate prosecutor. To put him in the pantheon of prosecutors shows just how little you know of the history of the justice department.
07:12 PM on 09/04/2007
If Rudy is so brilliant, why did he
1. Appoint the unqualified and since-convicted-criminal Bernie Kerik to his former position of prominence, and
2. Encourage the Bush Admin. to appoint the (unvetted) Kerik to be Secretary of DHS, which proved to be yet another embarrassment to the Bush Admin.
