Obama Soundbites Faked in PAC Attack Ad on CNN Moments Ago

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Just moments ago, at 10:55 pm EST on CNN a PAC attack ad ran from something called "letfreedomring.com" in which Sen. Obama's voice is heard arguing against various weapons systems. These appear to be fake soundbites.

The ad's clear aim it to instill real fear into voters hours before the polls open that a President Obama would leave the nation without defense systems, traditional and nuclear.

Are others seeing or hearing this ad elsewhere, or in robocalls?

I don't recall a presidential candidate's voice being faked before in a television ad, and I strongly suspect that this is what was done.

I do not believe Obama has said any of the things I heard. Reminds me of the Bush attacks on Dukakis in 1988 for being against weapons systems that Dukakis did not oppose.

If others see this, I hope they will post or comment.

I haven't seen the ad that is referred here. Howerver, in watching MSNBC's line-up last night from 7pm-10pm i did noticed that during every commercial break (almost every 30 secs) there was the ad by the PAC group goptrust.org referring to the Rev. Wright fiasco. Furthermore, i noticed that both CNN and MSNBC are promoting FNC as the 'most watched, most trusted, balanced news on televison, and the most watched for election coverage.'
Something strange has happened during the last 48 hrs and I am not quite sure how that will play out today on election day.

And Yes! I cast my vote at 7AM this morning and boy do I feel liberated.

I saw part of the ad on Colbert tonight too. It made no sense.
I also got a call from Visa today regarding recent charges to my account. Including a donation to the Obama campaign.
I have had this card for 5 years and never had a call like this. I've never been late with a payment and rarely even carry a balance. They had actually locked my account due to questionable charges. The questions I was asked were stressed as coming from the public record. Where have I lived, worked etc. (I told them it was none of their business.) This was not a return call to the number left on my machine. I looked up the bills from Visa and called that number, just in case.
They assured me it was for my protection and security.
The other 2 charges they questioned were to Proflowers, and Openoffice.
Have others had similar experiences after credit card donations to Obama?
Is there somewhere to report this incident?

It is complete bull shiite!! Obama wants strong defense systems, the best. He just wants it to be more cost efficient. I think the country needs that. Things aside from defense are going to need review and trimming as well.

Yes. Here in Wisconsin, I was watching the Colbert Report. The ad came on but there was no sound. I simply saw images of various weapon systems. Toward the end of the ad, a nuke destroyed a nuclear plant (looked like Three Mile Island). Then the screen went black for about fifteen seconds before Colbert came back on. Without sound, the ad made absolutely no sense.

I have seen this ad on some local channel in DC for at least a week. Really seems desperate.

I didn't see the ad you refer to. It may be too new to be on here.

So is the Obama campaign going to react? Or stay above the fray?

Liddy Dole faked her opponent saying 'There is no God' or something similar. Perhaps libel and slander suits against the perpetrators/funders of these ads will help with this. Hit 'em where it hurts.

I'm in Alexandria, VA (DC-Metro media market) and I've seen the ad about three times so far over the course of the day.

I did get a fishy sense from the ad when it cut to Obama's "quotes."

Figures. And CNN couldn't do even the mildest fact checking to verify this? Humpf.

Yes, I just heard the ad on CNN about the same time. I had the same impression of the ad . . . that it wasn't anything I had heard from Obama before and that it was definitely supposed to be frightening.
I'm in Nashville, TN.
