Thanksgiving 2008

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

The family gathers, always a joy
But the year has been hard.
One fine son laid off; another far away,
A lovely daughter distressed, a beloved mother departed.
A time to worry and a time to weep.

Wars go on; hunger grows;
It will get worse before it gets better

But we will give thanks for the stunning
Audacity of hope
As we embraced our better angels
And decided, in Langston Hughes fine words, to
"Let America be America again, let it be the dream it used to be."

Have a happy thanksgiving.

Well said, and well taken. We have much to be thankful for, as a country and as a people.
I hope the coming trials prove us all to be as strong as the passing "Greatest Generation". It's our chance.

This Canadian wishes America a very Happy Thanksgiving. I imagine it'll be rather a special one this year.
