In this week's episode of Scheer Intelligence, Robert Scheer sits down with fellow USC Annenberg School for Communication professor Richard Reeves.

Reeves, a longtime journalist, recently published a new book, Infamy: The Shocking Story of Japanese American Internment in World War II. Using this knowledge, Reeves examines the parallels between president-elect Donald Trump's rhetoric and that used to justify the internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII.

"What does this election mean for the country? Are we opening the doors to a kind of fascism?" Scheer asks Reeves.

"With Trump, we're in uncharted waters," Reeves says. "He's a hyperactive kid who's lived in a bubble for his whole life."

The two also compare journalistic practices from the two eras, and Reeves argues that contemporary journalists didn't take Trump seriously during the primaries and that this contributed to his success.
