A month after a mysterious investigation of Wikileakers founder Julian Assange was launched in Sweden no charges have been filed.

Assange has been told he can leave Sweden, his lawyer told Aftonbladet.

The conflicting decisions of Swedish prosecutors on whether Assange, an Australian, sexually assaulted or harassed either of two women raise questions about the process.

It may have already achieved its goal, the character assassination of Assange, and making it impossible for him to operate out of Sweden. Because of Swedish laws protecting whistleblowers he had sought to base Wikileaks operations there.

There have been numerous media reports spinning stories about how Assange has lost the trust of fellow Wikileakers.

Nevertheless, the organization has said it is going ahead with the release of thousands of documents about unethical or even criminal actions by U.S.-led forces.

After the first major data dump, Assange was threatened and the U.S. sought to persuade allies not to permit him to operate on their territory.
