Thank you, Michael Jackson...
I'm starting with the Man in the Mirror,
I'm asking him to change his ways,
No message could have been any clearer,
If you want to make the world a better place,
Take a look at yourself
And make that change....

The wiki and other backstories of the video are so wonderful. The vid stands as a historical testament to the times in which he lived and the amazing talents he used so well. I was moved to tears, probably because I never did get the lyrics ...until tonight:
"I'm Gonna Make A Change,
For Once In My Life.
It's Gonna Feel Real Good,
Gonna Make A Difference
Gonna Make It Right . . .
As I, Turn Up The Collar On My
Favourite Winter Coat
This Wind Is Blowin' My Mind
I See The Kids In The Street,
With Not Enough To Eat.
Who Am I, To Be Blind,
Pretending Not To See
Their Needs?
A Summer's Disregard,
A Broken Bottle Top. . .
And A One Man's Soul.
They Follow Each Other On
The Wind Ya' Know. . .
'Cause They Got Nowhere
To Go.
That's Why I Want You To
Know. . .
I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror.
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways.....
I've Been A Victim Of A Selfish
Kind Of Love.
It's Time That I Realize.
That There Are Some With No Home, Not A Nickel To Loan,
Could It Be, Really Me,
Pretending That They're Not
Alone?
A Willow Deeply Scarred,
Somebody's Broken Heart,
And A Washed-Out Dream.
(Washed-Out Dream)
They Follow The Pattern Of
The Wind, Ya' See,
Cause They Got No Place To Be.
That's Why I'm Starting With
Me. . .
(Starting With Me!)
I'm Starting With

1988 I was living in NYC, publishing/editing my own Rock zine, managing a rag tag bunch of musicians, doing PR writing for SONY Records and trying to survive it all in the city that never sleeps. Having good seats was one of the perks in this non stop agenda and this night I had great ones! Front row next to Miles Davis! Man, Michael was beyond! He took that stage at Radio City and nothing, no one, not even the Rockettes continued to exist. Michael ruled. During that performance, at the height of Michael's prowess as an Entertainer, I, the seminal Rock Chic who was at the first Sex Pistol and Clash gigs in the US and loved to rail against Disco, Michael and Madonna included, was transformed in a New York minute to a MJ Fan. Never mind Neverland, Bubbles, The King's - the Real King - daughter, the rumours, the scandals - I paid no attention. I had seen the light that night in NYC.Here's the show on You Tube. Enjoy. When video 1 ends, the next one comes up. Click on it too! Bye Bye MJ and thanks for the Stardust Memories!
