Rod Palmquist is the International Campaigns Coordinator for United Students Against Sweatshops, a campus network of students supporting the rights of workers locally and around the world. Already a seasoned social justice campaigner, Rod helped lead the biggest university boycott since the anti-apartheid movement, pressuring over 100 universities across the United States, Canada, and Britain to cut their contracts with a corporation called Russell Athletic. USAS won an unprecedented victory, forcing Russell Athletic to reopen a unionized factory they illegally closed in Honduras, pay a multi-million dollar settlement to workers in damages, and adopt a stance of union neutrality at all their Honduran plants. Nike's at it again, and it's losing millions due to a powerful anti-sweatshop campaign led by United Students Against Sweatshops, the same student movement that forced Nike to disclose its factory locations and recognize garment worker unions a decade ago.
