Roger Miller was born in 1952, and grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He began studying piano at age 6. When the Beatles occured he was in 6th grade, and seeing them on Ed Sullivan seriously changed his life. He played French Horn in his Junior High School Concert Orchestra and Concert Band.

He was a teenager during the turbulent '60's, and witnessed Jimi Hendrix and Iggy and the Stooges, as well as attending the University of Michigan's "Contemporary Directions Concerts" (cutting edge 20th Century "serious" music). Often he would see the MC5 in the afternoon, and go to Contemporary Directions concerts at night.

He studied composition at California Institute of the Arts in the mid-70's, after experimenting with free jazz improvization. He moved to Boston in 1978, and shortly co-formed Mission of Burma on guitar and voice, the "post-punk" band that has secured his "reputation". He contintued playing keyboards and other instruments during and after Burma, resulting in over 40 CDs under his band leadership.

Currently, he plays keyboard for the internationally acclaimed silent film accompanying ensemble The Alloy Orchestra. He plays guitar and sings for the reincarnation of Mission of Burma. He plays keyboards and sings for The Binary System. He has composed numerous soundtracks for cutting edge TV commercials and documentaries.
