Experience vs. Inspiration

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

When I fly in an airplane I want the pilot with the most experience, not the one who can inspire hope in me that I get to where I am going. When I pay my taxes, I want the person filing them to be experienced, not the new person who inspires hope in me that he can do the job. When I hire someone to fix my washing machine, I want the tried and true experienced person, not the one who inspires me to hope that he can fix it. When I go to the doctor I do not want to get the one who inspires hope in me that s/he can cure what's wrong, but the one who knows what the hell to do the minute I call. It's not really the job of a public servant to inspire, but to get the job that the people demand done. The democrats think that if they have hope and are inspired things will get better, but they actually won't. When Oprah makes her employees sign her fifty page non-disclosure statement, she doesn't "hope" they can't break it, she pays teams of experienced lawyers to MAKE SURE they can't break it, or be sued in an experienced court by an experienced judge.

Ok, I get it. You want Hillary to win. Isn't this like the 4th blog you've written saying that? Don't get me wrong, you have every right to support whomever you choose and write about it freely. However, at this point I don't think one more rant about Oprah and Obama is going to make a big difference in how people vote. Considering how well your last blogs helped Hillary, (see the last 10 contests) maybe you want to stop telling people to vote for her?

It was okay when the Ms. Oprah opened her big mouth and told everyone who to vote for, right?

Thanks for telling us we all have a right to support whomever we choose.

Great, someone who has publicly ridden the thoroughly discredited "repressed memory" bandwagon much to the public humiliation of her own father is now telling me who to vote for. No thanks.

Air traffic controllers, not pilots, really fly the plane. Pilots wish they could get jobs at the IRS where trained monkeys file your taxes. Washing machines and cars are only diagnosed by computer then humans do what they are told. Doctors won't lance a boil without a $2600 full body MRI.
If politicians can't at least be inspiring while they're stealing, wheeling and dealing then what's the point. In Jersey we vote for people if they promise to steal less.

Roseanne, you are so smart....keep thinking. I'm really mystified at the supposed "intellectuals" that have flocked to Obama. Their idealism has totally cancelled out their realism. I'm with you....totally!

Roseanne knows more about this country than any Obama supporter on this board. She is also not afraid to go on any show and fight for the average American. Her own TV show helped people to finally reject the Regan/Bush “trickle down economics” of the 80’s by showing a real mid west family’s everyday struggle.

She also got off her butt, went to Ohio in 2004 and tried to motivate voters to vote out the Bush Administration’s assault on the Constitution. However, she found a lot of lazy people who didn’t have the time, probably a lot of Obama supporters today.

Another great woman in American history, Billie Jean King, feels that all her hard work the past 50 years to bring equality for women has meant nothing in this election, Hillary did everything the hard way to get a shot at the presidency. Meanwhile a good-looking young man, with a couple of years on the national scene, says a few nice things and he’s America’s Svengali.

If Obama was a woman, with so little experience and a nice talking game and decided to run for Prseident, completing only 1/3 of his first term as US Senator, she would be laughed at by the American public. No question about it.

Gimme a break!

Obama has been riding and hiding behind Oprah's back.

Isn't Oprah the one peddling the book "The Secret". This crap has been #1 in this country for months. Americans who buy into that garbage, must be buying into this campaign. One high on talk, but lacking in substance or record of achievemnt.

But Hillary does not have more significant experience--acting as a first lady does not count as electoral experience. Obama served as a legislator for more years than Hillary. And he did not get where he is by riding on his spouse's name, money and connections. He got where he is bu MERIT! It is so good to know that MERIT beats dynasty and nepotism in America. Now the Clintons and the Bush's need to go back to their southern redneck states!

When I fly on a plane I want a pilot that's not chosen by the passengers but rather has his credentials certified by an authorized agency.

When I read opinions on the candidates I want analogies that are actually appropriate to the process in question.

I love her fighting back!!

We are taking back our party. Your Boy President is too religious and self indulgent. Everyone in America is going to see it soon.

What's your point? Clinton supporters aren't allowed.

It would be nice to trust in experience! I, as a woman I've learned that when I take my car in to be repaired, I expect to be given an honest annalysis of the problem, from an experienced mechanic, I get it and more. You hear people checking out healthcare options, not just trusting the medical system to get it right. We question Hillary's experience and get so many different versions, at least with Obama's you can read his books, his life experiences are laid out, her's are somewhat intermingled with Bill's! If it was experience we wanted, then we would have gone with Biden, Dodd or Richardson? Obviously, the American public is looking for something different, change.

Not the responsibility of a politician to inspire? And this is the choice, between experience and inspiration? I'm afraid experience qua experience is not what is wanted--one's experience could have taught one little. Take Hillary. It seems to me that it's the DS Beltway-triangulation experience and its conventional "wisdom" that is hurting AMerica. Her vote on Iraq, and her continual support of Bush's national security agenda confirms that she has learned the wrong lessons of her "experience?".

I could vote for Hillary, but I'm ready for a clean sweep and a new vision for America. I could use a little inspiration right about now.

Wish you could be out on the road stumping with Hillary, Roseanne. It's unconscionable that Democractic leaders and Hollywood celebrities are sitting on their hands while the Wall Street dominated media burns her in effigy each day. Where's Martin Sheen when you need him? It just floors me that we finally have a chance to extract the criminals from the White House, and progressives are playing right into Karl Rove's trap. He hatched the Obama plan in 2004 when the Illinois G.O.P. replaced its candidate against him in the senate election with incompetent Alan Keyes. G.O.P. fundraisers poured in the initial funds for the presidential campaign, while Obama's speechwriter is Ben Rhodes, brother of Fox News VP David Rhodes. Folks, this isn't rocket science. For more on Rove's strategy, I've posted an article at thecityedition.com

Dick Cheney is one of the most experienced individuals we could have chosen to "pilot" our country, and we have seen all too well how that has worked out. And despite Hillary Clinton's so-called experience, she lacked the judgement to stay out of Iraq, or to defend our Constitution by standing up against the so-called "Patriot Act". When I board my next airliner, I would hope that the pilot is one with the ability to demonstrate good judgement, and that is clearly not Hillary Clinton.

Your right...but which one do you trust not to f**k up again with our military and our money, the one who has or the one who spoke out against?

It's fascinating to listen to you folks. My position is fairly simple: I want Obama to win the nomination so that there is no chance of Hillary becoming PotUS. But, listening to the Obamaites is incredibly fascinating.

Folks, Obama will not pull our troops out any faster than anyone else will. To do so will invite wholesale slaughter and disaster. It doesn't matter if he voted against it, we broke it, we bought it, so to speak. That's just the reality, and no amount of pie in the sky rhetoric is going to change the facts on the ground.

What he will do is run a better equipped, and better managed war. That I believe. He will have our troops home, safely (and probably a tad sooner, if he works it right).

Don't be so short sighted. There are other issues. To hear y'all continually harp about the war and Hillary's vote for it is as shrill as HRC herself.

Hey Roseanne -- you go girl! Totally perfect post. Hillary is a known entity -- no scary new surprises behind phony words of false hope like O. Let's face it -- the mainstream media already has their plethora of ammunition ready to spew at the "liberal, inexperienced" phony O. They're just waiting, trying to first divide and conquer through skewing every newscast against Hillary who they know is much more middle-America and can bring tons of votes away from McCain. They want an extreme horse race of two opposite polarities of McCain and O to raise their ratings and profits, period.

Hillary is the real deal. WE KNOW HER. Who's life is better now than when she was living in the white house throughout the 90's??? She's the ultimate change -- a woman in the White House. With respect to every minority, it's more important that a woman be President now -- to finally represent more than half the population that has forever been ignored!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:55 PM on 02/24/2008

To echo Bill Mahr, women may be half the population, but America "owes" blacks a hell of a lot more than it owes us white women. Slavery was worse than sexism. And it owes native Americans more than it owes blacks, because genocide is worse than slavery.

That said, it shouldn't be a contest. Do you know O is a "phony" or are you just assuming this? Which of his specific legislative accomplishments (which I posted elsewhere on this thread) were fictional?

When I fly on an airplane I want a pilot that regardless of experience has a record of not crashing and burning. One that can discern a safe fight course through treacherous skies. One that doesn't use the experience of others on their resume or count as experience simply being near an airplane. One that does not confuse the expediency of the moment with a vision of the entire flight plan. And one that can make decisions based on the safety of the plane and its passengers not their ability to find a parachute for themselves.

TO: Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barck Obama Experience vs. Inspiration by Roseanne Barr.

I mentioned on another blog this issue of experience as needed for the President of 2008 Election. On this issue I mentioned Proverbs 8:12 stating,"I,Wisdom, dwell with Experience. Good people should choose the way of good not evil. Kings and Rulers reign by me.

On this issue I also quoted from book Roger Williams Fights for Religious Freedom by Clifford Smyth,'31 author or The Gilded Man. From Roger Williams's book it states,"The divided authority of the colony of its Charters by Coddington (he wanted to do things his way) and the Charter of Providence failed to be a success. There needed to be a strong, guiding personality that the people could have confidence in and naturally their LONG EXPERIENCE with Roger Wiilliams naturally made him the head and President of the colonies of Rhode Island.

As you said,Roseanne Barr, one cannot fly a plane without having smart experience. One needs to be smart about foreign policies as well. I never was for too much foreign policies as President Thomas Jefferson wasn't either. I am not an expert though. I quote the lines from the book American Heritage for Presidents and Famous Americans,'67 which on subject of why we have Presidents put in by our Founding Fathers it states that even a person can grow mightily in Office of the President. However they were not thinking of How to Win a War though. We have had Presidents good, strong, bad, weak and others who should have been President but are not.

From Bible it states,"I hate Wars. Put an end to the destruction of Wars." I have searched through Bible 3 times to find these verses in Bible, but Bible is so big I have not found them to quote where they are from. Perhaps a Priest or Minister will know them.

In a Democracy everyone has the right to express his opinoins whether they are right or wrong, true or false. Freedom of speech is necessary and desirable, but it involves certain responsibilities. As speakers, we have the responsibility of saying only what we know or believe to be true. As listeners we have the responsiblity of weighing what someone says and judging its worth. From book English Composition and Grammar by John E. Warriner,'48,'58 also reader for College Entrance Examination Board. Francis Griffith,Columbia University.
