When I fly in an airplane I want the pilot with the most experience, not the one who can inspire hope in me that I get to where I am going. When I pay my taxes, I want the person filing them to be experienced, not the new person who inspires hope in me that he can do the job. When I hire someone to fix my washing machine, I want the tried and true experienced person, not the one who inspires me to hope that he can fix it. When I go to the doctor I do not want to get the one who inspires hope in me that s/he can cure what's wrong, but the one who knows what the hell to do the minute I call. It's not really the job of a public servant to inspire, but to get the job that the people demand done. The democrats think that if they have hope and are inspired things will get better, but they actually won't. When Oprah makes her employees sign her fifty page non-disclosure statement, she doesn't "hope" they can't break it, she pays teams of experienced lawyers to MAKE SURE they can't break it, or be sued in an experienced court by an experienced judge.

When I want a pilot to fly me somewhere I want a pilot, not the wife of a pilot.
I definitely don't need a motivational speaker as president.
There are plenty of those guys around.
It's not really the job of a public servant to inspire, but to get the job that the people demand done.
UMM yes it is. It is the job of the leader to inspire his followers to put heat on Congress, etc. I miust disagree with that part of the premise.
Obama didn't rely on his wife to get where he is. Would Hillary be the Senator from NY if her name was Hillary Rodham Smith?
How can roseanne compare a politician to a pilot or doctor? that is the most stupid analogy I've heard. For a politician to be great he needs a vision and a plan and most important political will and influence. If Obama has the power to get people to listen to him and take him serious he can accomplish alot. A pilot and a doctor can get better with time and experience I dont believe that to be so with a politician. I think the argument of comparing these professions if ridiculous.
Your analogy would be great if it were true that Hillary has more experience, education, training or smarts than Barack. Not true. Both have spent time in public service and legislature, both have travelled extensively and both have wide support in Congress. Obama rules when it comes to education and working harder to achieve. So that's a wash. Who seems to make better decisions and stick to them? Obama. Case closed.
It's always amusing to hear everybody here on the Obamington Post go "hoorah" on every pro-Obama commentary, then engage in the vilest smearing whenever people prefer HRC.
Kinda wierd. It'll be interesting to see if Congress and the GOP fall into line and get inspired by the rhetoric when Obama (probably) becomes president.
When I get on an airplane I want the pilot that doesn't vote for the war in Iraq. When I go to a doctor, I want one that didn't vote for the war in Iraq.
He didn't vote for the war on Iraq because he wasn't in the Senate yet. And if he were, he probably wouldn't have been present to vote.
That was funny because it's so true. He's flip flopped so much on the war my head is spinning. If elected, he'll probably keep all the troops in for fear of getting negative press as a cut and runner. He won't be able to stomach the media turning on him.
When I get on an airplane, I want the pilot that didn't vote for the war in Iraq.
Let me use your "pilot" analogy, Roseanne. I would rather have a pilot with a clear vision of where they were going rather than someone whose decisions have resulted in a catastrophe. Oh, and I prefer a pilot who doesn't lecture to me like I'm 5 years old.
But you act like a 5 year-old. e."
"Clear vision."
"Someone whose decisions have resulted in a catastroph
Real cogent analysis.
Many voters consider Clinton's vote for the war a catastrophe. Many workers who lost their jobs because of NAFTA are in a very real catastrophe.
Why the angry swipe at Oprah? Can't a powerful woman disagree with the Clintons and get credit for being strong and powerful?
Because the bitterness stems from one of the camps and, surprise, it's the losing camp...
How did you feel about the inspiration that people like JFK, RFK, and Bill Clinton brought, Barr?
Did you dismiss it so readily?
I'd bet that you didn't.
Since when is "Experience" an even halfway respectable argument for Hillary Clinton to use? She had *no* experience at all before she used her position as a popular president's wife to get a Senate seat to use as a stepping stone for the presidency.
Also, if she's trumpeting her so-called "experience" now, and how it should trump everything, what would she have to do to run against John McCain? All her current arguments are reasons to vote for *McCain*, not *her*!
If she makes it to the general election, she'll have to do a complete 180 and start running as the fresh outsider, as the candidate of "change".
She'll have to steal virtually all Obama's rhetoric, and every one of her speeches attacking extolling "Experience" over all would be played back by the McCain campaign.
Apparently, Hillary wants John McCain to be president more than anything in the world. That's what her current argument says, and it's what Roseanne's says.
I'd rather not have John McCain as president. Is that ok with you guys?
You just don't get it. What is inspiring us is that Obama is saying the things we have wanted to hear for the last 8 years--and that includes the policies he is promoting. What inspires us is that, finally, here is a candidate we might be able to trust to work for the American people. Perhaps we will be proven wrong, but there certainly is no one else left in the running who comes close to what we want.
The job of a CEO entails a great deal of inspiration and vision. That's a big part of being a leader. We finally have a Democrat who can mobilize people, and all of a sudden that's a liability. It's idiotic.
This experience v. inspiration stuff is a red herring at best, and deliberate fearmongering at worst. They should just come out and say it: Vote for Hillary or the terrorists will kill you.
doug: Excellent point!
Ms Barr,
Please Obama has the most experience Period !!
This is Ms Clintons "First Time Ever" as an elected official so please get your Facts Straight !!
Obama Has "The Most Experience" As an "Elected Official" Representing People "Who Voted" For Him !
Years As An Elected Official:
Obama -12 Years
Clinton-8 Years
So Obama should be "Your Pilot" by "Your Own Words"
So thanks for helping people decide on Obama the one running with the "Most Experience" !!!
Vote Obama !!!!
-Sarge
Good point, Sarge. I am sick and tired of people saying that Obama has little experience, when he has been a legislator longer than Hillary.
While Democrats duke out this primary, things said about Hillary or Barrac are alienating Democrats. Is the Democratic Party going to polarize it's members to the point that and the plethora of intrest groups it represents just stay home and deliver the presidency to John McCain. Karl Rove couldn't have engineered a better train wreck. If this happens, we will be at prepetual war, the middle class eviserated in debt up to their ass, the last remaining public infrastructures will be privatized. The only winners in this will be Wall St. and the Corporations. Welcome to Facism. God help us.
Your comment is exactly correct. To the detriment of the country, Hillary Clinton is trying to split the democratic party to get a 51% majority just like Karl Rove. I am so disappointed in the way she is handling this. I used to think that the Democratic Party had two great candidates and I'd be happy to vote for either. I can no longer vote for the Democrats if Hillary is the nominee. Its either Barack or McCain for me.
Yeah, what do you think the Repubs will do with that lovely "Shame on you, Barack Obama!" footage?
Who decided that the opinions of Roseanne Barr are worthy of our attention? I suggest that she return to stand-up comedy and that the Huffington Post put this space to better use (and by that I don't mean more stories about The View).
It's like TV: you don't like it, don't watch it. And if you want an echo chamber due to your insecurity, then you're right, HuffPo should be even more pro-Obama than it already is.
Great news today. Because of Clinton campaign lies and calling me delusional and now making all the people who go to obama rallies , instead of listening to uplifting speeches and now to listen to long policy manuals which all of us college educated and yound and old had all read. But the low income blue workers never could. So carryinng bitterness and literal hatred for the clintons into the next few months WE wont HAVE TO SIT AT HOME AGAINT HILLARY, WE CAN SHOW HOW MANY MORE VOTES OBAMA COULD HAVE GOTTEN BY VOTING FOR NADER
all of us who have payed attention only because of his uplifting inspirational speeches and since he happened to be democrat would have swept enough democrats to power to change the power structure to get things done , vote for NADER AND LET HILLARY KEEP HER POLICY FOLLOWERS BORING OLD DEMOCRATS AND SINGLE SEXIST WOMEN.
