Rosemarie Ostler is the author of Let’s Talk Turkey: The Stories Behind America’s Favorite Expressions and Dewdroppers, Waldos, and Slackers: A Decade-by-Decade Guide to the Vanishing Vocabulary of the Twentieth Century. Ostler has also written articles for The Saturday Evening Post, Christian Science Monitor, The Futurist, Whole Earth, Writer’s Digest, The Writer, Elks Magazine, Entrepreneur.com, and other magazines. She received a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Washington. She also holds a degree in librarianship from the University of Iowa and worked as a reference librarian at the New York Public Library’s Mid-Manhattan branch and the University of Oregon’s Knight Library.
