First Graders and Food Trucks

Posted February 27, 2012 | 02/27/12 12:07 PM ET

Assemblyman Bill Monning's proposed bill in California, AB 1678, requiring food trucks to stay further than 1500 feet of an elementary school, just doesn't make sense.

With this bill, food trucks move up the ladder to public school enemy number two, implying they are more obesity causing...

Are Food Trucks a Fad?

Posted September 12, 2011 | 09/12/11 11:30 AM ET

I get asked this question all the time.

While New York and Los Angeles are in the middle of a food truck throwdown, Vancouver and Disneyland are welcoming street food options with open arms.

In New York City, council members Jessica Lappin and Karen Koslowitz are attempting to overthrow the parking meter hierarchy of "I got here first"...

Are You a Cool Tweeter?

Posted March 22, 2010 | 03/22/10 09:38 PM ET

Social media is a funny thing. What seems like the unifying tool to bring together all people of various social strata can sometimes do just the opposite. High school politics aside, there are some matter-of-fact features of social media cool kids which differentiate them from the rest of the e-crowd.

Posted February 14, 2010 | 02/14/10 02:37 AM ET

I spent most of today eating.

I kicked things off at the LA Street Food Festival with a locally roasted coffee from The Sweets Truck. Around this time, people started lining up outside the iron gates. This was at least an hour before the festival was slated to officially start.

Why Chefs Should Wait Tables

Posted January 15, 2010 | 01/15/10 12:40 AM ET

As I gradually progressed to approximately five to eight spaces behind the front of the seemingly never-ending line for the Roli Roti rotisserie truck at the Ferry Building farmer's market last weekend in San Francisco, Thomas, the chef, did something quite unexpected... Wielding a Hattori Hanzo steel blade,...

Here come the top 10 lists.

The hot lists of 2009 will invariably reference a few major themes of our year past -- from Michael Jackson to unemployment, with Lady Gaga's masked masquerades riding high on the pop trend wave. One trend is of particular interest to summing up 2009...
