8 Ways to Activate Your Intuition

Posted: 09/21/11 09:40 AM ET

Intuition can be defined as understanding or knowing without a conscious and immediate route to thought or reason. Some may categorize it as mystical, while others may describe it as a response to unconscious cues or previous learning.

However, intuition can be a tricky subject. I have dealt with many clients who confuse delusions or illusive tendencies with intuition. This could be misguiding to them, creating anxiety and confusion. The reason for this is that while intuition is something we all have and can access, it needs activation.

Becoming too much of a logical mind without using your intuition can be unproductive, but the same is also true with being too intuitive and not logical. Some of the greatest discoveries, inventions and creations of our times have been done by experts who were open to their intuitive side and responded to their hunches in a productive way.

In order for you to activate your intuitive tendencies, you may find the following useful:

Learn To Become Objective

The more objective you become, the clearer your path to accessing your intuition. Being objective means being less biased in the way you approach life and its challenges.

To do that you need to move above the situation and look at it without being emotionally blinded by it.

You need to look for an uncensored truth of the situation before making a judgment. In other words, you need to be willing to move beyond the tip of the iceberg.

To activate true intuition one must quiet the mind. We can only access our natural, some would say "universal" intelligence when we learn to silence the steady stream of thought that arises from the mind or ego and it's incessant thoughts. There is a higher form of consciousness than thought.

Women have the ability to use up to 15% more of their brains function than man. This does not nessesarily make them smarter.Using a deep breathing techinque can triggger this effect we call clairivoyance, telephathy intuition. The key is relaxing and tensing your muscles and breathe and count. The down side once you trigger this effect and being intuitve begins, the crazy train rolls in with the aid of low frequency radio waves disruptive ability to interfere with brain waves even more than normal. You be the judge, blessing or curse. Mindcontrol is a choice not to be taken lightly. The here and now is for all I wish all the luck in the world to the female population.I now wonder if the real deal is only a sensory deprivation tank and oxygen for man to be an island.

Intuition is a female ploy to browbeat us males with the notion that they are superior to us. It does not exist. My wife is just as often wrong as she is correct when using her "intuition". That tells me that her intuition is the same as "guessing". She is tossing an invisible coin in her mind and decides in advance what "heads" or "tails" should portend.

I find females tend to be more intuitive while men more cognitive. It drives us crazy when a woman can ot explain how she came up with an answer. But just because someone doesn't know how they came up with an answer does mean it is wrong. I've been trying to be more intuitive, or at least trust my intuition more. I go back and cognatively evaluate my intutitive decision later.

Great tips! One other idea that has helped me recognize my intuition is the inner voice is sensory, not verbal. In other words, our emotions and physical sensations (this doesn't feel right in my gut, my heart is racing, etc) are good indicators of the right path for us.

After a decade working in politics, I recently decided to follow 'the voice behind my bellybutton', leave politics, move to London and become a writer. This realization happened over many months, but I knew my intuition was on board when my internal reaction to the idea was a wave of calm and peace. I write more about the experience (and my journey since) here: http://elizabethfarrar.blogspot.com/2011/08/voice-behind-my-bellybutton.html
