Another Reason Some Conservatives Hate Immigrants

Far more than liberals, conservatives prefer a top-down, obedience-directed lifestyle where orders should only be barked once before they are followed.

This is true in a wide variety of examples:

Biblical- "God said it," so it must be true and must be followed;
Male Team Sports- where the coach or manager's instructions are to be executed. No wonder most prominent male athletes are Republicans;
The Military-The ultimate command-and-control hierarchy where according to some studies, upwards of 80% of officers are Republicans;
Married Life- The belief that the husband should run the house; wife, children and even the dog must always obey;
The Workplace-Hierarchical command structures are likely to be overseen by conservative people who want no challenges and certainly no change.
Everyday Life- Fast driving, "I want mine now" impatience.

OK so what does this have to do with disdain, or even hatred of immigrants?

I have a theory that people who want their way all the time, and expect their orders to be understood as soon as they issue them have a psychological makeup that doesn't work well with people they encounter whose accents may indicate that English is not their first language.

The fact is that many of our newer immigrants work in the service sector where encounters with conservatives of the type I have described are likely to take place.

When some conservatives who expect immediate comprehension and obedience of their orders encounter a fast-food checker, sub-contractor, etc., whose first language is not English, the conservative customer may either be asked to repeat the order more slowly, or hear the order recited back to them for verification. These processes drive certain types of top-down conservatives absolutely nuts.

Of course the fact that the fast-food service person speaks two languages, and the immigrant-disdaining conservative speaks just one, seems to be lost on the conservative. Neither does this "family values" conservative accept the possibility that immigrant with the halting English came here to build a better life for his or her family.

Enough of these experiences, and a certain type of conservative with that predisposition toward needing to be obeyed becomes an intolerant, "build a wall," "make English our official language," jingoistic boor.
