I can virtually guarantee that on July 4 President Bush will invoke the Glasgow airport terrorist incident.
Something along the lines of "this flag stands for the brave men and women who fight against terror"- and then citing the recent attempted car bombings in Glasgow and London as examples of the terror we must be vigilant against.
This from the man who, just yesterday, commuted the sentence of an operative who worked as part of a cabal to out a CIA operative who was tasked with investigating real terror- Iran's nuclear program.
This from a man who led us, and the men and women who fight for us, into a war against a nation that harbored no terrorists who hit us on 9/11.
This from a man whose Iraq war led to the shifting of assets from finding and killing the nexus of international terror in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. A nexus that if taken out, might have demoralized terrorists of the type that aimed their wrath at Glasgow and London.
This from a man whose unnecessary Iraq war has led to some of the same type of flags so many Americans will fly tomorrow to be draped around the coffins of more than 3,500 brave men and women of the same type he will praise on July 4.
Men and women who heard their country's call, wore the uniform, and made the ultimate sacrifice.
All this from a man who, when he was younger, sought a far safer route for his service obligation.
His service obligation under that same flag he will issue tribute to tomorrow.
