Let me see if I can figure how this works. You pick a very attractive woman, looks are almost the only criteria, and decide to make her the President of the United States. Seems easy enough. All you need is a never ending supply of money. Let's pick a very powerful character and try to imagine how he might do this. For purposes of speculation, we'll use Rupert Murdoch, the media mogul of Fox fame.
I don't know how much influence Rupert Murdoch had with John McCain personally, but if my theory holds water, Rupert must have known someone. Or perhaps more accurately, owned someone within the McCain camp. If indeed he did have his eye on this young vibrant governor of Alaska, he more than likely made himself known to someone on McCain's team. Somehow, he got her the vice presidential nomination. Vast amounts of money to donate might have helped.
I am not sure entirely how many benefits Rupert would get from having manufactured a president. But the reward must be powerful enough in Rupert's mind. Maybe he will end up like the Dukes from Trading Places, the wonderful movie from the 80's. Maybe he has a one dollar bet with someone. Regardless of his motives, this is how easily he can buy a president.
First, pick the right candidate. In this case, an attractive female with a respectable career. Who could be better than a governor?
Next, make sure that your candidate is power hungry enough to follow orders, implicitly. Smart enough to get by, but not intelligent enough to be any kind of threat to act with independence.
You thrust her into a position of very high visibility. Something that will garner almost instant respect among the public. Huge exposure over all media. Vice Presidential candidate would work very well as a VP rarely makes policy. VP's tend to represent the country at funerals of heads of state, or perform other functions that basically amount to riding the bench. So, high visibility with little accountability.
Winning would speak for itself, but even if she loses, Rupert's goal is accomplished. He has won the first skirmish by establishing her new found position in the public eye.
So you give her a "commentators" position at your news network. Let her campaign and raise funds on the air. Have her write books, with the best ghost writers that money can buy. Publish her books with your printing house. Use your countless tabloids and talk radio to gin up issues for her to address and conquer. Then cover her success in your prestigious financial newspaper.
This works really well if your candidate stays the hell out of the way. Next you make her a television star on your entertainment network. Luckily she played basketball in high school, so that allows you to reference her quite often on your myriad of sports outlets.
Then once you have established her place in a political party, contribute more money than anyone else to that party. In fact, give them an entire news network. Let them use it for purely political ends, but hire the very best public relations experts to enable your propaganda to be palatable to the general public. In effect, buy the party.
Last and most importantly, use your financial power to engineer crises for her to solve. Wag the hell out of that dog. Set her up to succeed, again and again. Whether she is actually successful matters little. Using misinformation and blasting your message over all your media, can define her any way you want. Even turning mistakes into victory.
Then, for the crowning blow, help her daughter (you know, the one involved with that boy). Put her on Dancing With The Stars and set her up to either win or take runner up. Whichever the PR boys think best. In fact, Rupert should be able to have lots of fun during the wait for the 2012 campaign to heat up. I wonder what will happen next? A theme park?
I am scared for the future of my country - Canada - as we are now set to get a right wing news station in the next month or so.
At least in the US there is MSNBC (which i miss now that i do not have satellite!) to counter balance the insanity that is fox news. We do not have that here in Canada, so when this new conservative news station starts there is nothing on the other side like in the U.S. It will be like having just fox news and cnn and nothing else.
Oh how i miss MSNBC! LOL
Kieth Olberman only donated $2409 to a few candidates and was suspended form his job.
Fox is turning Palin into thier own Manchurian candidate!
Rupert Murdoch and Fox News Network are the most dangerous forces that have arisen in our country - ever!
As fearful as those on the right are about someone taking their country from them, it's amazing that they don't have a clue that the very network that they've chosen to shape their worldview is controlled by a man who wants to do just that!!!
They're afraid of the black man, the brown man, the Muslim, the gays and lesbians, and of late, the Native Americans as well ... but they're not afraid of Rupert Murdoch; yet he's the one they should fear most of all.
The call the R's the party that supports the troops, but in fact the party that really does is the Dmeocrats. Look at the voting records of Senators from both parties. You will be shocked. One thing these guys are VERY good at is this.
