I grew up in a small farming town in Oregon. I was lucky enough to be educated at Seattle University, and received my degree in Political Science in 2007. After working as a community organizer with Greenpeace and People for Puget Sound after my graduation I moved back to my hometown of Canby to find it had been remade into a suburban crap shoot.

I value the differences between rural and urban regions and hate to see places like Canby destroyed as rising prices in the cities force young families further and further out. I understand why rural voters are suspicious of urban voters.

Harmonious coexistence does not mean we should all be the same. Have you ever heard a full orchestra performing a harmonic piece in tune? All the parts are quite different and distinct from one another. Together their differences, our differences, will create beauty.
