I know there are plenty of you out there who may have forgotten that the city of New Orleans still needs your help and the good people of New Orleans still need homes. One man who has not forgotten is Josh Charles.
Josh was in the process of making New Orleans his home when Katrina devastated that great city. He was forced to get on one of the last buses out of the city and into Houston. A brilliant piano player who has studied and played with Dr. John, Wynton Marsalis and The Meters, Charles was scheduled to hit the recording studio the day after Katrina roared through town, claiming lives and flooding homes and businesses. Three months after the storm, Josh made that return trip to begin his scheduled recording with Dr. John's band and found people displaced, heartbroken, and hungry. Troubled by images that will never leave him, he wrote "Healing Time"
In a new and revolutionary partnership with Amazon and Tunecore, 100% of "Healing Time" will be donated to the Make It Right Foundation which helps build green, sustainable homes in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans- one of cities hardest hit areas.
"I had to do something," says Charles. "The spirit of New Orleans is with me wherever I go. Times are still very hard down there, but together we can make a difference. For less than a cup of coffee you get a song, and all of the money goes to rebuilding homes through Make It Right. It's a win-win."
I've written about New Orleans a number of times on these pages and my own pages at Burning Wood. Those of you who have been there and were greeted with that immeasurable warmth you still can't shake, know just how important this is.
"Healing Time" has the perfect, uplifting vibe that you'd expect from a musician born and raised in the Crescent City. Funny then, that Josh Charles was born in La Jolla and has only visited the city a few times. This is what the magical city of New Orleans will do to you. Let's give something back to them. Help "Make It Right," and download "Healing Time" for just $.99. Let's all help Josh help the people of New Orleans.

This is really cool. Glad to find out and glad to help. Healing Time all the way!
I've seen Josh Charles and his band play around NYC, and it's brilliant stuff! Great tunes, amazing musicians, and one hell of a show. It's really cool to see them start to get national recognition, and for such an amazing cause!
Anybody who does anything in this cold world to try to brighten his fellow humans existience, I think is an amazing person. When they contribute to the well being of others through music and then donate like he has, its real human chairity. I was introduced to Josh's work through a close friend of mine. So I might be a little biased, but the man sings pretty well. I emplore you all to check him out. If not for the sake of helping your fellow man then for the sake of good music.
Josh Charles is a real talent. His devotion to making New Orleans a better place is truly inspired. Everyone should download this song and help contribute to his mission. There is still so much to be done down there, and every little bit helps, plus the music is amazing! Check him out!
