The Ponderosa Stomp: It's Not "A" Party, It's "The" Party

Ira Padnos is "that guy." You know who I'm talking about? He's "that guy" who has a party every year that you never go to, but you hear from all your friends that it was the greatest party EVAH! The good news is that Ira Padnos is not "the other guy." You know who I'm talking about? "The other guy" is that guy who stands behind the velvet rope and points to you and you but NOT to you, you and you. Ira Padnos, or as he is known to all those grateful partygoers, "Dr. Ike." is gearing up for "that" party, and I'm begging you to get your ass in gear. This is your chance.

The EIGHTH ANNUAL PONDEROSA STOMP is all set and you, ALL OF YOU, are invited!

The Ponderosa Stomp is a gathering of those unsung heroes of rock and roll, soul, blues, funk, rockabilly and more. This is a party, a reception, a tribute to those amazing artists that have been on all of the mix tapes you compiled to impress your friends and their friends. These are the artists that inspired Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, and even the Rolling Stones and The Beatles.

For eight years, Ira "Dr. Ike" Padnos, a New Orleans anesthesiologist by day and passionate music lover & demented philanthropist by night, has assembled a lineup of musicians that will take over the New Orleans' House Of Blues between weekends of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, on April 28th and April 29th.

This year's roster includes Wanda Jackson, Howard Tate, Question Mark & The Mysterians, Dale Hawkins, Dan Penn, Otis Clay, Bobby Patterson, Dennis Coffey, the Hi Rhythm Section, as well as The Remains (they toured with The Beatles you know) and a reunion of sorts, featuring a first time appearance together since 1971 of Cyril Jordan and Roy Loney of The Flamin' Groovies.

I am on my 4th Stomp, and every year I think to myself, "This can't be happening! I can't believe I just watched William Bell sing 'You Don't Miss Your Water! Or The Collins Kids! The freaking Collins Kids!"

The Ponderosa Stomp is that great jukebox, in that great, roadside diner that you only see in movies, except... this is real and it's alive on stage. This is the party you'll want to tell everyone about.

Take it from me, you won't believe your eyes and ears!

I know Classie Ballou, one of the scheduled performers this year. If you love old-old-school music, classic blues, jazz, rock, zydeco, swamp blues, etc., you really must attend this party!

Yeah you right! Years past I've seen James Blood Ulmer, Bobby Charles, and Deacon John. The greatest show on earth!
