Three weeks ago, I spoke to a gathering of nearly 600 women in New York City for the Women's Campaign Fund's Parties of Your Choice gala. Looking out on the crowd, I saw the faces of women from different races, professions, ages -- and yes, believe it or...

I never understood the toxic level of sexism in our society until I experienced it firsthand. And then I realized something else: Politics remains one of the most rampant breeding grounds for misogyny.

In 2001, I ran for Mayor in my hometown of Allentown, PA. Even in a place I've...

Now running for New York...

In the past two decades, I've often found myself asking, "Where are all the pro-choice Republican women?"

But today, despite her second place finish in the GOP primary for Congress in KS-04, I'm inspired by Jean Kurtis Schodorf's dedication to public service and record of defending women's reproductive...

Sarah Palin's 'Mama Grizzlies' Don't Speak for Women or GOP

0 Comments | Posted July 13, 2010 | 2:36 PM

In Sarah Palin's recent video, she talks about "a lot of women coming together to get things done for our country." I also know a lot of women coming together and enacting change -- but I don't think we're talking about the same group of women.

The Oxymoron of the Sarah Palin "Conservative Feminism" Brand

0 Comments | Posted June 14, 2010 | 4:41 PM

Let me say this one more time: Sarah Palin is not a feminist. In fact, the fabricated term "conservative feminist" is an oxymoron.

As I said this morning on the Laura Ingraham Show, Sarah Palin calling herself a conservative feminist is like BP calling themselves a...

This week's primaries brought huge victories for women across the country -- many who succeeded against great odds, such as Sen. Blanche Lincoln in Arkansas and victim of egregious misogyny and racism, Nikki Haley, in South Carolina.

But the biggest headline we're still seeing is how...

Will 2010 go down in history as the "Anti-Year of the Woman?"

Given the track record for women candidates already this year, I would say it's a distinct possibility. So far, we've seen Dede Scozzafava, Martha Coakley, Jennifer Brunner, Connie Saltonstall,

Today's news of President Obama nominating Solicitor General Elena Kagan to become the third woman on the U.S. Supreme Court should be celebrated. Kagan's confirmation would add another justice who supports women's reproductive health choices to the Court; as well as a historic number of women on the Bench.
