The desperate wing of the desperate GOP is making a big deal out of a photo of Sarah Palin on the cover of Newsweek. It is really a closeup and evidently it reveals a few unflattering lines and creases, and the Republicans feel it is unflattering and unfair. They are upset. Four points should be made about this snit:
1) Sarah Palin is forty-four years old and has five children,of course she has wrinkles.
2) I saw the photo, she looks just fine, she looks like an attractive middle aged woman. Why is that a bad thing?
3) Is she running for Vice-President or prom queen? Hillary Clinton, Margaret Thatcher, and Golde Meir all made huge impacts on their countries, and I don't remember this uproar over any head shot of these three.
4) If the GOP wants to be upset, why aren't they upset because Sarah Palin cannot site a single Supreme Court decision other than Roe v Wade? Why aren't they upset that Sarah Palin cannot cite a magazine or newspaper on her reading list? Why aren't they upset that she wouldn't answer a direct question from Gwen Ifill?
Why aren't they?
