From Serious to Silly

What's Your Reaction:

Ari Fleischer said Helen Thomas should be fired because of her scurrilous comments about Israel. The same Fleischer who stood by while John Ashcroft held Bible meetings on government property. The same Fleischer whose boss said his favorite political philosopher was Jesus. The same Fleischer whose boss sucked up to Robertson and Falwell. The same Fleischer who is a pundit where Glenn Beck compares Jesus' compassion for the poor to Nazism. The same Fleischer who advises Tiger Woods into being only slightly more popular than Sandra Bullock's ex-husband. How do you keep a gig? Oh, yeah, you're at Fox News, the place that thinks Dick Morris is credible.

Conan O' Brien has spent the better part of six months crying like a baby about being booted from the Tonight Show. Three points about this mewling griper:

  1. HE started the ball rolling when, in an interview, he said he might leave NBC to look for an 11:30PM late night spot since Leno was so firmly ensconced. NBC thanked Leno for fifteen years of top ratings by firing him and giving baby Conan his 11:30 rattle.

  2. Conan's ratings were horrible, and so they dropped him after six months, a fact about which he has not stopped bitching. Maybe O'Brien doesn't know this, but shows get canceled after one week, so six months is a nice run. You weren't succeeding Carson, Conan, you were succeeding Leno, and you tanked. And you got a multimillion dollar buyout. Why don't you go to a bar in Detroit and bitch about your fate? How will that work out for you?

  3. You have accused Leno of being a rat because he took the show back. The show YOU took from HIM. He was smart enough to wait around on property, and when you nosedived, slipped right back into his chair. He owes you nothing. He wished you the best, you did the worst. How do you gripe about the fact he was rehired AND has resumed top ratings? Take a hint.

LeBron James is being wooed by NBA teams like no one in my memory. Cleveland is doing everything but setting the mascot on fire to keep James. This is what I would do. I would let him go. Bye-bye, ciao, see ya, take a hike. Sign him and trade him. Why? Have they won a championship with him? No. Is he the best player in the league? No, that would be Kobe Bryant, who is sinking shots with so many hands in his face, you'd think he was being hypnotized. Yes, sign him and trade him for a front line player and two number one draft picks. Build a great young team, and watch James lose in another time zone.
