I Got the Tossed Salad and Right Wing Blues

A group of conservative actors in Hollywood got together with a conservative producer/director and made a movie in which Michael Moore gets bashed and liberal ideas get spoofed. It is called "An American Carol," and it stars a lot of famous wealthy people, the vast majority of whom are right of center. They have every right to make a satire of the left. Go for it. The part of their project that steams my onions is based on the whining about being conservative in Hollywood.

To hear them tell it, if you say you're a right winger in Hollywood, it's tantamount to being unemployed and shunned. They have to go underground, like a Black person passing for white, or a Jewish person changing their name to avoid being detected. It's hell, I tell you!

None of the first dozen names or so seem to be people who can't get arrested in Hollywood. Kelsey Grammer, Trace Adkins, James Woods, Jon Voight, and Dennis Hopper all seem to be surviving quite nicely. There are more, but I think Robert Davi is the actor who has publicly stated he is being squared out of work for his support of the war in Iraq. They think of themselves as a secret society, bearing the party label that dare not say its name.

Don't take this the wrong way fellas, but shut up! You don't like being a conservative in La La land? Try being a straight male dancer on Broadway, or a liberal radio talk show host, or a white power forward in the NBA. Over ninety per cent of the Screen Actors Guild membership are unemployed at any one given time, and political beliefs are not why. It is supply and demand. If you don't think there are powerful people in Hollywood who are right wingers, you are simply wrong.

You see, only twenty-six per cent of Americans think George Bush is doing a good job. Obama is (as I write this) ahead of McCain and gaining. We as a nation are tired of the sanctimonious ersatz alpha male swill peddled by hero wannabes like Bush. You loved him when the war in Iraq was declared. I read that Bruce Willis has told troops how the liberal press is misleading Americans about this war, as if wanting the troops home safe and sound is working against their best interests.

No one stopped Mel Gibson from making a living in an industry where Jews are preponderant, so spare me your complaint of ostracization because you are a Republican. The blacklist is YOUR baby, so don't start giving lefties credit for perfecting your out pitch.
