If We Go to a Play, The Bankruptcies Win

Yeah, Barack Obama watched a play, and that was the moment that GM sank like a stone. It had nothing to do with decades of mismanagement.

So President Obama and his wife went to New York for dinner and a play. Every once in a while this young man (I am now older than my first president) and his wife like to get away for a date. I guess Mrs. Obama's mom watched the kids so the First Couple could relax for a little while. I think this is great. i think it is great when any president can get away. Michael Steele, the head of the RNC, disagrees. He released a statement that the President shouldn't eat dinner and go to a play when General Motors is on the verge of bankruptcy. Steele thinks it shows insensitivity. Of course he is wrong. The man is going to eat dinner anyway, and not watching a play isn't going to pull General Motors out of a hole.

I think Mr. Steele has a problem with retaining information. I wonder because Mr. Obama's predecessor took more vacation time than someone who is unemployed. He vacationed during the height of Hurricane Katrina, he played golf after 9/11, he spent more time at the Crawford Ranch than the brush he allegedly picked up. I say allegedly because I shook his hand once and it was awfully soft for a guy who handles brambles.

The bigger point is Michael Steele is clueless. He desperately needs someone who doesn't think PR means Puerto Rican. Sotomayor, the economy, value added tax, Iraq, Afghanistan, these all might be more salient points to swing at than a married couple on a date. Yeah, Barack Obama watched a play, and that was the moment that GM sank like a stone. It had nothing to do with decades of mismanagement. Maybe Michael Steele should get out once in a while, it seems to be working for the Commander in Chief.
