If gays are violating God's law, then let God sort it out.

I make a point to read the wedding section of the Sunday NY Times every week. I do it for a couple of reasons. First, I am amazed at how many of these people have really great jobs, I mean they are really successful. Second, I am always cheered by how happy these people look at celebrating their bethrothal. That leads me to speak about marriage between gays.

I think that film clips on news programs of gay couples saying "I do" went a long way to lessening the negative feelings a lot of folks had towards men marrying men and women marrying women. These couples look like anyone else at this special moment: serene in their joy, thrilled to be with the love of their life.

Now I know that George Bush wanted to add an amendment to the constitution banning gay marriage. He was responding to the narrow minded segment of evangelicals who hold that marriage is between a man and a woman. Unfortunately for these social bigots, these marriages are most of all none of their business. If gays are violating God's law, then let God sort it out. I don't believe God was rounding up a posse to stamp out this dynamic.

A couple that got married this weekend got a mention in the Times and both partners are women. In addition to having great gigs, (yes,I'm jealous) they look so happy in their Times photograph. All U.S. citizens are guranteed the pursuit of happiness, and it includes the blushing brides.
