After the Palin-Biden debate, a debate I watched at home with my wife (I tried watching a debate at a bar once, and all I heard was a lot of drunks screaming "You suck!"), I came away with a lot of thoughts which I have distilled down to these points:
1) She's a charmer,very pretty and very camera friendly.
2) She was very well coached
3) If her job was to calm down her base,she did just that.
4) She didn't debate, she talked.
Bigger points:
1) If you tell the moderator you will not answer the question posed, then you are not debating, you are speechifying. "I'm going to talk to the American people" doesn't cut it. Biden was talking to Americans also,and he answered the questions.
2) If you keep perpetrating the lies McCain has spread, (Obama will raise taxes, Obama is too inexperienced) undecideds are not moved.
3) We get it,you are a hockey mom, you relate to men who drink beer.
4) Unless women in Des Moines hunt wolves from helicopters, they aren't like you at all.
5) Your daughter Bristol has been having unprotected sex since she was in tenth grade. Nice parenting, hockey mom.
6) You got the name of a general wrong,you misquoted him, and you misstated McCain's record seventeen times.
7) Telling people how long Biden has been in DC is ineffective when your guy is older.
8) The incredibly vile Michelle Malkin should apologize to Gwen Ifill. She won't,but she should.
9) "Filtered" interview? What part of your answer to the incredibly tricky question "what newpapers do you read" was filtered?
10) You want more power than Cheney? You think he is in the legislative and the executive because he said so? Really? Whew!
After the glow of how spirited she was wears off,it will be noted that Sarah (can I call you Sarah?) answered questions badly,got her facts wrong,and sounded and acted,well,coached. Biden won poll after poll among undecided voters. At best,she scored a slight loss,at worst she moved no one anywhere.
