Unplug And Recharge: Everyday Yoga - Trees Don't Multitask (VIDEO)

"Unplug and Recharge" is a Living series which aims to give you, our dear readers, a quick break from your day -- whether you have as much time as ten minutes or as little as two. Following the success of our Oasis at the DNC, we're hoping to give you a little cyber-oasis -- a place to escape -- where you can take a moment to unplug, relax, and recharge.

While multi-tasking enables us to get more things done more quickly, our minds pay the price. They become busy as we dart from thought to thought, regardless of whether or not those thoughts serve us.

Today let's practice some balancing postures to bring more stability to the body and mind. When you are standing on one leg, the mind has no choice but to slow down and focus to help orient the body in space. Join me to slow down, get balanced, and therefore become more energized and present for whatever life brings us next.

Where was that picture of the trees (the thumbnail that links to this article) taken? That place looks beautiful.

Thanks Sara! Wonderful pose. I will incorporate in my daily Yoga and Stretching regimen. It is a great balancing, focusing and grounding pose.

Those that think trees don't multitask have a very ignorant understanding of biochemistry.
They are very complex entities that deal with a variety of inputs, make adjustments based on current and anticipated conditions, and devote a fair amount of energy to such things as gaining nutrition and reproduction.
