For Dennis

Posted: Updated:

"Observe the moments between the thoughts. It's where the magic happens..."

Dennis drake was a healer in the Midwest that I'd been having phone sessions with for almost a year. When he was 12, he was struck by lightning and thrown close to 50 feet. He went into a coma for 40 days. The doctors said he would never survive, but when he came to, he had a different perspective: that we were all connected. Very humble, Dennis would never call himself enlightened, but was able to shift energy in a unique way; he said he could see and speak to the molecules.

On our last session I asked him if there was anything I should know, anything to work on until I spoke to him next. He told me that I was ready to start observing the moments between the thoughts. It would be where I would find my true nature.

Three weeks later, Dennis was late for our phone session. I called the usual number and a woman answered the phone telling me that he had passed peacefully the week before, surrounded by his family.

I cried. I smiled, knowing that now he was everywhere.

I lit a candle for him on Kol Nidre.
