Sarah Walzer has been the Executive Director of The Parent-Child Home Program since 1997, during which time the Program has grown from 38 to over 150 sites. Prior to The Parent-Child Home Program, she was Counsel to the Assistant Secretary for Legislation at HHS, working on early childhood issues and the development of domestic violence, substance abuse, and dropout prevention programs. From 1989-1993, she was legislative assistant/counsel to Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, working on women’s and children’s issues, education, housing, and poverty issues. During this time, she also was responsible for children and family issues for the Clinton/Gore Domestic Policy Transition Team. In that capacity, she evaluated early childhood initiatives and worked on a variety of legislative issues, including Family and Medical Leave, teen pregnancy prevention, child care, Head Start and early childhood education, and family preservation. She has presented to many audiences, including the National Conference on Family Literacy, the Congressional Black Caucus, and the Council of Great City Schools.
