Last nights Guns N' Roses bash at the Hiro Ballroom, hosted by my buddy Nur Khan and DeLeon Tequila, marked the end of New York Fashion Week (and the end of what is always a super long series of weeks for me.) For two weeks straight, we work nights and weekends at my modeling agency One Management. I guess you could say it's no sleep until Marc Jacobs is over.
So, when offered the chance to unwind and have all the fashionistas on my turf, the party was a welcome addition to all of the other fashion parties we have been to this week, which had gotten somewhat repetitive.
The Guns N' Roses bash may have just been the best party of the week (the other being our ONE management, VS magazine party with Helena Christensen, please ignore the bias.)
In addition to the fashion crowd who turned up to drink to the end of what has been the busiest week of the year, in attendance last night was everyone from Sienna Miller, Jared Leto, Olivia Wilde and her boyfriend Jason Sudeikis, Jack Huston and Shannon Click.
The band didn't get started until after 12:30 and sounded in top form opening up with, "You're Crazy" and then launching into all of their classic hits. Having performed at the same venue myself with Courtney Love and Hole during Fashion Week in September, I know the feeling of the energy in the crowd. It feels great to have people in your face feeling the music.
At some point, an idiot threw glass at the band and there was a bit of scuffle, with Axl Rose calling out the offending audience member from the stage, but it wouldn't be a Guns N Roses show without one, right?
All in all, I'm happy to get a three-day weekend after a grueling few weeks of no sleep, parties, bookings at all hours and complete craziness. So, I love you fashion week. Happy for you to return in September, but for now? See ya.
